    Aha!
I didn't get to work in the garden, but I was able to get a bunch of stuff I might need in the future for a garden I don't have yet, but dream about if I had the house, property, and time!
Oh, wait. Maybe I shouldn't have stopped for that sale.
*Disclaimer* I know I got an awesome deal on all of this stuff. The reason I say I probably shouldn't have done it is only because I have a tiny home, and a very small yard with very little sun, so most of this stuff will sit in the shed, especially the large items.

    Oh well!

So, anyway, I saw a going out of business sale at a small garden shoppe, so I stopped and got 20 plastic pots that appeared to be (only by eyeballing it) 4 inches across by about 8 inches deep, three 8 or 10 inch hanging pots (with bottoms but without the hangers, which is ok with me), 2 large pots, about 5 gallon size (I go by gallons because I am a fish-keeping hobbyist and that is the easiest way for me to measure containers), and two 20 or 30 gallon containers. Plus about a gallon of activated carbon for my fish tanks. I only spent $32 total!
There were some oblong pots that I really wanted to get but I thought the price was a bit high. They were marked as $12.95. I found out later that they would have cost me $4.60 each. I think they were a foot across and 4 inches wide by 4 or maybe 6 deep. I am kind of regretting putting them back. The sign said final day, but when I drive by today, I'll take another look. They had a lot left over, and they told me they aren't into gardening at all, so I am guessing they will most likely have to get rid of everything somehow. I fear that they might have bulk sold to another garden center at the end of the day. We'll see. *hands wringing*

Oh, no. Not me. I will pick this up and reuse it next year. This will harbor no vermin...hopefully, for the rest of my gardening season. I also am hoping it will alleviate blight in the tomatoes. I am sure we will still have to spray, but this keeps everything in the soil from splashing up on the foliage when it rains.

Beeker, it sounds like you got some deal, but the oblongs may have been a good one to pass up. they sound too shallow to be of much use if they were only 4" deep.

    Thank you, Carolyn.
After eyeing a ruler, I am almost certain they were 6 inches deep. You will make me feel much better if you still think they were good to pass on.
It looks like the store is closed. BUT there are still things inside.
We'll see if anything happens this weekend.

I have been squeezing my gardening in when not visiting my sister or rushing through errands. I have taken lots of pictures on my way out in the morning. I just don't have time in the evening to post them. I fall asleep instead. :'( I will get them posted soon.

Hubby has planted about 120 to 150 plants in the last week and I have plants lots of little things. If you remember my, hidden garden, it is now all planted with little 1 foot starts so it will look like something next year. At the moment it looks just like it did at the beginning. :D

No need to water around here. We are getting too much rain. Three out of my six tomato plants failed. I guess they ended up with root rot from so much rain.
My husband and I are planning on covering What's left of them over with some bottles to protect them from the rain we are supposed to get later today and tomorrow. It has been raining almost all week. The forecast says we should have a week of sun, and then another week of rain. Ugh. It would be better if it were every other day or two, rain and then sun, but week long of each is too extreme around here.
I finally got the rest of the garden tools I needed. Between my grandmother wanting the basement cleaned out, and that going out of business sale, I really made a killing! Between the two of us, we have just about everything we need! Now, all we need is time. There aren't enough hours in the day!

Beeker, we are also having plenty of rain, but the drainage is good, so no problem here.

My day yesterday was spent pulling out the hated Bind weed. The Blackberries and the horseradish was totally wrapped in the awful stuff. I managed to get rid of it for now, but it will return. Ugggh.

Just hoed up some peas. Everything skipped terrible this year. I replanted green and yellow wax beans. Now the wait is on to see if they will sprout.

I had a farmers market. Picked strawberries, cabbage, beets, cauliflower and zucchini this morning, Yesterday I picked shelling peas and snow peas, greenbeans in the hightunnel, tomatoes from the greenhouse and I am off to work out there more now. Mowing needs done and corn needs weeded.

Picked more squash, tomatoes, and cukes this morning. I'm still fighting weeds, but the garden keeps producing in spite of the competition!
Corn is finished--picked the last few ears two days ago.

All I can do now is wander and take photos and not very many photo ops out there right now. Everything is so dry and sad looking. For some unknown reason now my Tansy has died, at least the above ground parts but maybe the roots will put out more stems when the weather gets nicer.

If the blasted wind would die down or the humidity come up the soil and plants would be in so much better condition. I have pretty much all drought and heat tolerant plants but even they suffer under these conditions.

I have been wandering around out there watching all my plants soak up the 5/8ths inch of rain we got today. They are all smiling and standing taller now.

We planted at least 30 more plants today. Did all kinds of little outside stuff that no one would notice. Getting little plants in pots to put in metal rings to sit around. POOPED....
