What have you done today in the Garden?

I suppose your Bride said, "My Groom, do not "stir up" trouble!"
Sensible woman.

 

Chuckle. Well, something like that.

 

With melting snow and wet ground and temps in the 30s,
gardening isn't on my ToDo list. Therefore, I am honing my humor.

 

Zoom meetings in the garden shed. Rains were so heavy on the tin roof I had to mute myself. Puddles and streams of water.

 

We woke to this, so the wisteria pruning will have to wait.







I just had clear the bird and squirrel feeders of snow and refill them



I made this feeder out of stuff I found in the garage. Nothing bigger than a blackbird can get under the cover, so the pesky wood pigeons go elsewhere.
It took the squirrel weeks to learn that if it didn't push the umbrella out of the way, the kibbled nuts stay dry.

 

@Doghouse Riley You have snow Mild and misty here so I went to look for a houseplant for my bedroom and kitchen. Was half successful Then had to rearrange most of the plants in the entire house. That always seems to entail changing pots (I always leave plants in a growers pot so I can coordinate ).

 

DH Riley, the scene is SO beautiful, but I prefer warm sunshine.

 

Yours looks good...I wonder if we will get a little.

 

I harvested some rocket, a small cabbage and a fat leek.

Odif. the cabbage and Leek sound good in this cold.
I just clipped off a few sprigs of Parsley for adding to soup.

Riley, while I love looking out at the snow scene, I much prefer the beautiful greenery and flowers.

 

Today we made suet balls for the lottie birdies at home. We then chucked them into the freezeraduh to harden while we ate and bathed. After that, we headed out to.the allotment, balls intow.

I refed the birds and dropped a couple of suet balls into the silo. Idid a bit of light work and the Bride swept the paths and we sat down on the bench and watched the birds flock- in.

The first one was a blue tit, then some great tits, a robin, then we saw a dunnock loitering in the undergrowth and a wren off to the side. We then first heard then saw two finks. They had been waiting for me apparently.

We took one lastturn around the garden and saw a couple oh surprises:

On the way back we took a pic of this decorated greenhouse glasswork.


It was done artistically by smearing the whitewash on the glass then scraping away the borders of the patterns.

 

Our birds get a mixture of a quality bird food, suet pellets, dried mealworms and kibbled peanuts, plus there's two peanut butter feeders. "The patio tends to be busy." As there's plenty of food they have impeccable manners, patiently wating their turn, except "Sid" the starling who considers one of the peanut feeders his personal property.

"Winny" our wagtail tends to spend more time paddling than feeding.

 

Wow Sj, daffodils?! I am guessing they will sit like that for quite some time, no? A rose in bloom? You must be having a mild winter so far.

I've never fed the birds at the com garden.... Don't you risk attracting them to gobble your precious seeds or unearth your seedlings?
