Philadelphus known to me as a Mock Orange Shrub...Just bloomed the past few days.
    Shrub gone now roots.JPG
This was one of three Chaenomeles a Flowering Quince Shrub that was just a pain
with the thorns always catching us when cutting the lawns. It also was blocking out
other plants in our view from indoors...It has been real hard work but doing just a bit
at at time it will be fine... 010.JPG
Rockery plants spreading well now, especially the Ajuga which has mauve flowers
that look good with the pink geraniums.

    A full day in the garden today...Alright then...from 10.00am to 2.00pm with a break for a Budweiser.
I gave the hedgehogs toilet...alright our main patio, a good wash down and scrub.
Then tidied and vaccumed the garage and shed floors, cut the lawn and used the blower to clear the paths.
I'll spray the "green bits" on the patio with "Wet n' Forget" tomorrow when I come home from golf...made cappuccinos... emptied the dishwasher...and had my lunch.

This is as good as this garden gets apart from when the roses come out in June.

I've moved the mimosa in its big tub down to the small patio behind the shed. It was easy enough to drag even up a couple of steps, as the tub's plastic, I wouldn't want to have to lift it. It's at its least attractive at the moment and was taking up a lot of room.

The blooms of the wisteria on the fence are just about finished, but the bees are still visiting them.

l harvested basil, marjoram, thyme, and parsley. Then I went to the vegetable beds and dibbled for potatoes--got four lovely small new red potatoes before I dibbled out! Then off to the sugar peas and I picked a quart of them. Some will be eaten tonight, and the others will be frozen. They are just beginning to come on nicely so we will have sugar peas for a while. The squash is beginning to form, and the cucumber vines are threatening to take over the entire state!

That's great, I line mine with a compost bag cut to size. Can't get much in the way of lining here. When we had 5 golden retrievers I used to use their fur from me combing them as a liner, but the sparrows liked to use it for nesting material. I have used a old bath towel, that's good.

Oh my, I would be really disappointed. I like Cosmea so much. I wish that I had more room, for I would love to have a large stand of them. Take good care of those things.

Pulled up some wallflowers to plant some verbascum, cosmos, verbena bonerenses and Snapdragons in part of the front garden. Got a lot more of the same.

Got round to spraying the patios and paths with "Wet n' Forget" late this afternoon, so my time's my own over the week-end.
This is the first of the six bare root David Austin roses we bought in November 2019 to flower. They did very well last year. It's "Olivia Rose Austin."

Not a thing! It rained again overnight and early this morning, so slogging through the gardens was not possible. I need to weed the tomatoes and cucumbers, but that will have to wait for at least a day or two.

I wasn't going to anything today, but I decided to get done my most disliked job in the garden.
That's clear all the bluebell foliage. I like to get it done before it goes slushy. Today was ideal as it was dry and warm but not too sunny. There's no easy way to do this, so I was on my hands and knees, mostly under and behind the azaleas and rhodos. I find doing it by hand with sturdy garden gloves is the most effective and quickest way. I take my secateurs with me as there's often dead bits of "stuff" that can't be seen from the lawn that needs removing as does the grass from next door's lawn that creeps under the concrete base panel of the side fence. The back bed and the one under the wisteria on the side fence were easier to do.

I've still the front garden to do, but that will have to wait until next week as I've near as dammit filled the green bin.

Watered the blueberries that's close to the house, when it rains the water doesn't reach them there and watered the hanging baskets and a few tubs.
