What have you done today in the Garden?

Those are some nice looking veggie seeds.
That's a nice arch, too. I'd like to build something like that at my garden gate for a climbing rose. I don't think I can make the curved part so it will have to have a flat top.

Some of the first seedlings are off the warming mat now and under lights. That opens up some space on the mats, so I planted some old Echinacea and Gallardia seeds that might not come up, and some Carnation seeds. I've never grown carnations before. If the Echinacea and Galllardias grow, they will get a space in a planned wildflower / what won't deer eat? dry tolerant flower bed.

 

Nothing today it's raining.

 

Doesn't look much, but I replaced the rotting cross member on the pergola above the French windows.
The long screws that secured it put up a fair bit of resistance. I was concerned that the rot might have spread to the main 2" X 9" beams. But fortunately it hadn't, the many coats of Dulux Woodsheen over the last twenty-odd years had protected them. I couldn't find any rot anywhere else.
The replacement is tanilised, but I gave it a coat of Cuprinol just to be sure. I've still to seal the screw heads with some silicone frame sealant, but I'll wait until it's a bit drier. It will need painting too.

No work for me in garden outdoors today although my back strain has improved about 80% give or take a %. I tended seedlings.

I did informal inventory of flower seeds. I don't usually grow so many, but I need to keep my mind occupied.

 

@Daniel W I hope that your back gets better soon, I have trouble with my back sometimes and have to take it easy for a while.

 

I checked the seedlings. The first Jalapeños are germinating six days after planting the seeds. Also the first carnations.

 

Nothing here either, and I wish it was just rain....lol

Yes but here it is often true that the canopy takes the lawn light so we lower the limbo bar (so to speak). The shorter ones are not quite as bad as stepping on a curcubit but then they are not that far off it either.

Perovskia (Russian sage)
Monarda (Bee Balm)
Aconitum (Monkshood)
Actaea, or Cimicifuga racemosa (Black cohosh)
Stachys (Lambs ear)
Ageratum (Floss flower)

The Lambs ear plant is especially useful to the Carder bee - so Zigs has just told me. The bee uses the fur from the plant to line her nest....

Well no, I wouldn't walk on that - but ordinary grass mends fast.
