Did nothing today as it was a golf day.
But I did turn the garden lights on this evening as it's the Jubilee.

Your garden is such a magical and beautiful place DHR - I imagine those windows above were looking down in delight. (I had to look up bunting hahaha) I'm very pleased that you were able to turn on your lights.

Not sure what to make of hanging a muffin pan out like that! Is it a distress signal?

Today I was off all food from last night until after a medical test at 330pm. So I did garden stuff to take my mind off of being hungry.

    I hilled up more potatoes.

I planted Salpiglossis seedlings in the meditation garden. No idea how they will grow - I've never seen one in person, let alone grown one. I weeded and then planted old packets of zinnia and various marigold seeds. Will they grow? I don't know LOL. Also cosmos and dill seeds. One of the hills of Honeynut squash was eaten by slugs so I planted more seeds of Uncle David's Dakota Dessert Squash there (does it have to have such a long name?). I also planted bush cucumber seedlings.

On the way back from the test, we stopped at a big nursery. I bought a brugmansia plant. It's a bit pale, not sure why. I guess tomorrow I'll repot it, maybe add it to the drip, line, and give it a fertilizer boost.

The Thunbergera seedlings are germinating. They had some of those at the nursery too, in bloom. I've never grown them before, either. Some cleome seedlings are germinating. I'm a bit curious about whether my neighbor will think it's a certain type of plant that my other neighbor grows in his house under LED lights.

Planted out some more marigolds around the path, got half way i think. After an hour i had to stop with all the bending and standing up all of the time it started to make me dizzy.

Wednesday was a long travel to the city day for appointments. I was up at 5 am to give everyone a little drink. We opted out of any big box stores after the appointment and decided to come home. I was hoping to indulge in some pansies for my planter, but maybe there will still be some next time we go to town. I have a three tiered planter that I plant nastutium seeds in. One tier has no seedlings, but the other has double the amount.....hmmmmm. :) It will be nice to have some pansies in the top one, I do love how happy they are. We were home early enough to weed the peas and onions.

Yesterday was a successful day Morelling, and then filling in the peas with ones that I started in the greenhouse. I've never done this before, but a neighbour swears by it so that the meadow mice don't steal her seeds. I'm curious to see how they fair.

Today is a rainy day, but hopefully it eases enough to string the peas, lay the fabric mulch for the haskaps and saskatoons. The wild saskatoons are having the most amazing bloom. I hope they polinate for lots of berries for the bears. The wild strawberries are blooming, and I have my first two blooms on the tame strawberries.

We've looked it up in our bird book but can't identify this new bird on our patio.
It's possibly a young female blackbird but we've not seen one as light in colour as that before.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks. Me too!
The Brugmansia is the variety "Charles Grimaldi". I don't know if that is the same Charles Grimaldi who founded the royal line of Monaco. :) I couldn't find public domain images but it's a popular variety for a web search. The plant I bought is pale green, while a lot of images show dark green. Maybe some fertilizer and time in the warmth and sunshine will give it the dark green color.

Riley, that is a female merel, as we call them. That means, blackbird. We have one like that in our lottie this year.

Daniel, it will be fun waiting to see the colour.

We used hunt morels where I grew up in southwestern Illinois. I distributed morel spawn here but so far have not seen any. Such delicious fungi!

I had some as volunteers for a year or to after growing them before. Then that area became raised beds. I'm hoping for annuals that re-seed if they outcompete weeds. Plus deer never touched my cleome.
