I sat on my deck and watched things grow. It was a day of rest.

I did next to nothing due to wet soil.
The potatoes need weeding, but the two sided hoe
would be holding on to the wet soil. Maybe
    tomorrow.

I attacked the overgrown mess behind the Popsicle Lady Iris bed and around the windmill. Boy does my back garden look bigger now. I hadn't been out there in a couple of years so lots of baby trees to pull up or cut down and spray. I'm just going to cover and mulch that area too and use it for junque displays, way too many saplings show up every spring to leave the ground uncovered.

Today is 'let my back recover' day, then rain returns for at least the next week. I do need to get the Lamb's Ears dug up and potted for their safety before the construction starts on our side of the street.

We managed to get some mowing done--front yard and part of the barn yard on the riding mower for my husband, and half the back yard with the walk-behind bagger mower for me. If the rain holds off we will do the rest of the mowing tomorrow. At least I have a garden cart full of clippings to mulch the vegetable garden paths.

I finally got the last of my plants planted.I've been at it all spring. I even have the patio cleaned up. It feels great to be finished with planting.

Nothing the last few days, still soggy and getting soggier each day which in our situation is a good thing. It looks like there will be some rain everyday for the rest of May. :fingerscrossed:

I haven't been able to do anything in the garden today. It has as been raining. It is supposed to be. a wet week. My garden doesn't need any more water. My garden doesn't drain very good.

I finally had a chance to get out there in my gardens to putter. We have had a lot of rain lately (and severe weather too). Been awful busy at my job too. Today, the sun was out, and so was I. I planted one Plum Pudding Heuchera, one sweet basil plant, some blue Morning Glories, an Elephant Ears in a pot, and 6 red Begonias that I got on Mother's Day. I mowed the grass, as it is growing very fast with so much rain, and pruned a bit on my Dogwoods, Viburnums, and Burning Bushes (they are growing like crazy!) I also walked around and inspected all my plants to be sure there are no problems. The tomatoes, and peppers are mad, they have had enough rain and would prefer some warm sun, but so far, they are OK. I also visited my friends at the neighborhood nursery to see what's new, and brought home a big pot of mixed annuals. Now, I rest...:like:

The humidity is awful. its only like 85 or so but with all the evaporation from the rain the humidity is 100 percent in our yard. Alls I did today is work our 4 by 12 raised bed ready to plant some summer okra and some asparagus beans on the end trellises. All our garden beds are raised bed kinda square foot style. The soggy south pretty much requires raised gardens.

I tied up some tomato plants, squash, melons and cukes. Doing vertical gardening again. Picked pak choi, radishes, spinach and sugar snaps. Neem oiled my pepper plants as something is eating them up.

I am currently taking my first water break from mowing our jungle obstacle course of a yard. Theere is a good breeze from the south but its carrying so much moisture I am dripping wet. I came in for a glass and my floppy ole yard hat.

This is my second water break. The mower ran outa gas right about when I did. I have it about 2/3 done but next is citrus row and that can be a thorny adventure

Welp, I got er done. Not too bad only 2 breaks of course it aint full on summer yet. Shower time and a few celebratory beers for push mowing our rambling park of a yard.

I had a great day in the yard today! I am still busy edging, weeding and loosening the soil. There are a LOT of Feverfew volunteers popping up all over the gardens, and there are poppies and other seedlings mixed in too. It is very tedious picking out the ones you want to keep and the ones that must go! Planted the Canna's and the 4 O'clock tubers as well. I wanted to put in my tomatoes and peppers but Tuesdays overnight low is expected to be 3°C so I didn't. It's just so nice being in the gardens again :)

I've been picking and eating spinach every day. Still waiting for it to warm up enough to plant tomatoes. The cool weather crops are loving it though! My kitchen has become a greenhouse.

I was thrilled to find that almost all our asparagus beans had sprouted in only 5 days. I can hardly wait to see how they turn out.
