Hardly, Donna. I know how hard you work in your garden and in your house, too.

Watered and weeded and watered some more. Very dry so am still watering. Took a nap or two also. Don't feel like I will catch up on the weeding this year.

We cleaned up the house where the dogs harvested the lettuce and brought it inside to eat. Need to get more doggy fencing up around the veggie beds and pots. Maybe tomorrow or just relent and grow greens for the fur babies. I've left the netting on or around the other two big beds so most is protected just not the big planters.

A friend asked if I could water his garden this week while he's on vacation. Upon arriving at lunch today this is what I found:

The whole garden was covered in weeds. I couldn't help myself and began weeding away! You can see where I started on the right.

It's been dry and hot here in North Carolina for the past few weeks. Yesterday the edges of my squash plants started drooping and drying. :crying: I applied a little more soil/peat moss and mulch to help retain moisture.

I'm a pastor and today during lunch I spent about 20 minutes weeding the flower garden beds around the church property.

My wife and I have lived in our current home for 3 years and have done some sparse planting. Our big goal in the next week or so is to finalize a master plan for our property (which is small) to begin working towards. Each night we've been watching "How To Be A Gardener" by Alan Titchmarsh and making notes to help us plan our own garden.

Yesterday I got 2 Angelonia, 2 Marigolds and one tomato in the ground out back, did a lot of cleaning up that had been waiting for dry weather to happen. Sunday we finally got the Mahonia moved so it's not in as much sun as it was....only been waiting for rain to soften up the ground for 4 years. Today I am not doing much out there, I have been attempting to caught up on GardenStew plant pages that have gotten away from me while I play in the dirt outside.

Early this morning I tied up more tomato plants to their trellises, picked cucumbers, and while the bean patch dried out helped my husband "remodel" the old chicken coop. He had sand to put where the coop got boggy, and I tossed fresh grass clippings into the rest of the coop. While he refreshed the waterer, I put shavings in the nest boxes. The ladies are so happy--after a week of being confined to the new coop which doesn't have outside access, they went outside, sunbathed, and generally were happy chickens.
I picked beans and made some dill vinegar, and husband is mowing the barn lot. Thank heavens things are drying out after 26 consecutive days of rain, but it sure leaves a lot to be done to catch up!

Its finally sunny and warm today after days of clouds and chill.
K has a wisteria growing on is patio pergola. The thing is HUGE. The main vines are as thick as my arm o_O And there are Mourning Doves nesting in it <3 So I cut the vines that were trying to get under the siding and in the dryer vent and the ones that were growing from the base of the main vines out into the yard. I also pulled some weeds that were growing around its base. One of the weeds had long sharp stickers...ouch!

I went to the community garden this morning before work. I had the place to myself. I planted some more bush beans in the places where the seedlings had gotten eaten by something. Hoping for better luck.

Jonmark--I do so enjoy Alan Titchmarsh! I wonder if he has new videos out now.

with kevin and Adrians help....picked strawberries, 1/2 bushel of shelling peas. put the remaining 40 tomato cages on plants, tilled the remaining portion of garden up about a 50x 60' plot- laid plastic in it for tomatoes, which I planted 30 paste toms there, laid plastic for watermelons and cantaloupe, planted okra in one row and 4 rows of beans... a row of swish chard, tilled for the squash in the back. I plan to plant those tomorrow. I am tired.
We had strawberries left over and we made 6 batches of freezer jam.. starting at 8:30pm...

I love watching How to be a Gardener, but for some reason, I cant watch episode 2. I was able to see it a year or so ago, but when I tried to view it a few months ago, I got "This video contains content from SME, who has blocked it in your country on copyright grounds." Whats up with that??

Cant do too much in the garden today, had a big storm come through last night so the ground is quite wet. I do need to go through and make sure my plants are ok, especially the seedlings I planted earlier this week.

Went to the community garden after work today. Someone had given me a division of chives & I got that watered and planted. I also watered the new bean seeds & picked some lettuce for tonight's dinner. Again, I had the place to myself; it was very quiet & serene.

Went to St. Louis for 4 days, and came back to find my spinach starting to bolt, and red cherries on the cherry trees! So I've been picking cherries, pulled the spinach that bolted, harvested the other variety that was still okay, and froze my spinach. Looks like it might rain tonight, that would be helpful.

I watered everything out front and in the shade bed, I'll have to do the back yard this evening. And do a bit of weeding out back while doing it.
