Well Mel, I have seen those loppers with ropes, but never owned a pair. I have three pair of the normal smaller loppers that I use. I do not let my trees become tall enough to use those beauties like you have.

Duly noted Sir - My mission....this is as tall as they will ever be :) It serves us well to keep them accessible.

Yeah— it s the access that I am interested in. Crawling up onto a ladder is tricky with our unstable ground and wonky paths.
I do have one columnar apple tree especially developed for gardens so that it doesn’t become too wide. I do have to prune the top regularly though.

I brought the mini greenhouse down to the grow room today. I am really loving the heat mats. What a huge improvement to how I was germinating before - it will be much more consistent.

Environment Canada is calling for us to have another polar vortex arrive for the month of February. We aren't supposed to see -40 again, but to expect lows of -25 to -30. That's pretty yucky for Feb. The mats will help a lot as the room has a wee furnace, but it is not thermostatically controlled.

Riley you’re so clever to extend the loppers reach.
When any branch it that high I use a pole saw like a chain saw powered by battery. This type especially comes in handy after a heavy wet snow/ice storm that crack branches of trees like tooth picks.

Ground is still frozen so i checked on the old fuchsia plants that were in the small greenhouse and gave them some water.

We've some hyacinths which have finished flowering, that were a Christmas present, I'm going to get some compost tomorrow and pot them up but keep them in the shed for now.

Potted out these ten M&S hyacinth bulbs that were a Christmas present for my wife. They're now cut down and planted in two narrow rectangular green plastic troughs. I'll keep them in the shed for now, but they'll fit on the top step of the patio next to the French windows.

They were on our Dwell coffee table we've had for a number of years. The two halves can close completely. or slide sideways to reveal storage space below.

Never seen one like it since.

I had to go to Wilko for the compost. A bit of a pain as I had to push a Sainsbury's trolley from their car park nearly two hundred yards as Wilko is in the middle of a precinct. I bought two large bags, as we've the new mimosa coming at the end of this month or beginning of next and in March some bare root lily of the valley from my wife's favourite shopping channel. 6 x Convallaria majalis Berlin Giant and three majalis Rosea. These will go in some pots.

We have got some lily of the valley in the garden, but they are under the azaleas and rhodos, so never get seen. At one time they started coming up in the edge of the lawn!

I then spent an hour tidying the shed and giving the lawnmower a good clean.

I began to set up the grow lights in my daughters room ( aka the grow room). I should start seeing sproinks any day on the seed trays, so I need to be sproink ready with the lights. The heat mats are working excellent for maintaining an even temp in the germination tent. Very pleased. :)

Mel. you have done a great job setting up all the necessary doodads… to be ready for sproinks .
Your set up will be solid sproinks.
