What have you done today in the Garden?

The corn rows are lookin great. What type of corn? Fresh corn is one of the best things to eat on earth..mmmm.

 

Managed to mow the lawns cut and used the vac to tidy up before it rained.

 

I only grow honey select sweet corn.
It's the best and sweetest corn, I think.

 

Sounds delicious … yes that is the best. …just imagine hot corn off the grill butter … well now I gotta go to the store.

It is doing better than it was, but It looks a bit pathetic.



But it's here up against the fence so it hardly notices. I'll just let it stay there.




Two e-mails to the supplier met with no response. So I've more or less written it off, life's too short to worry about it.

 

Had to cover all of the blueberry bushes with horticulture fleece to stop the blackbirds eating them.

 

Riley… it is lookin good. It will recover… it was delivered during the cold months to you and was stressed out a bit and once it heats up it will explode. It’s actually considered a herbaceous weed in some states . It reseeds everywhere in warmer zones. Not allowed to be sold in some states where it spreads like wildfire.

In a couple of years you’ll be wishing it would slow down. Also glad to see it has one trunk.. the type with several branching trunks tend to split from the weight of winter snow storms. By the end of July/August you’ll see blooms.
They really don’t grow out any leaves until June/July it’s just starting to leaf out.
On the bright side - humming birds especially love the blooms .

 

I haven't been in the garden as much, but I do a little something every day.

Today I tied up some tomatoes. Even dwarf types can benefit from some support.



A few salad types are almost ready to eat.





The drip irrigation is working great! It makes life so much easier. That and the cardboard mulch.

Chestnut trees are blooming.



I weeded a little today. More tomorrow.

Marigold plants look lush.



I moved most of the container plants off the deck, to a location near the faucet. Much easier to water now. The deck is almost ready to power wash.

 

I spread a couple yards of mulch. DW cleaned her flower gardens. The big news is we finally figured out where to put the bananana tree. Well she did anyway.

 

Daniel, you are a tower of power. Your garden is looking great. My Bride is seriously impressed with your red toms. She remarked that they look perfect. Yeah, we are far behind you, and so your accomplishments are looking VERY good to us about now.

We picked more Roma and cherry tomatoes, and the last of the cucumbers. Here is today's pickings, some ripe and some needing a day on the counter to come to perfection.
