Oh, I hear you Donna... nt cold enough for the parsnips. What?!!! I am okay with it for now. Maybe my carrots will get a bit bigger to eat, yet.

Sjoerd... Thanks for the kind thoughts. They are appreciated for the man all his loved ones and friends. He isn't my biological family, but he is church family and well loved by many.

Cleaned out the bird houses on the lottie.

Look at this nest. See how thick it is and all the components...like sheep's wool, moss and the rest. There were three eggs that did not hatch this summer.

The ginger root was removed a few days ago and now I have removed the Mirabilis root. I don't know how old it is anymore, but it is huge now and weighs 1 kilo and 200grams. It blooms so nicely each year and has different-coloured flowers on the same plant...so I keep it. I plant it nearby the sitting patio so that we can smell its perfume in the evenings when we sit and relax there.

Removed some reeds out of the canal next our lottie.
    Did some weed hoeing.
Noticed the spring and early summer plants blooming at the moment.

I picked the last apple tree, the goldrush, now they are all off and I dug a tray full of carrots. Oh, these are yummy ones. maybe about 5 pounds worth.

I picked some more tiny cherry tomatoes and got sopping wet in the process (90% humidity will do that to you) and pulled some young dill plants to make a sauce for salmon filets. I need to deadhead the roses, but after I dried off, I decided to leave that for another day!

Nothing actually in the garden today unless I want to slog through almost 2 inches of rain standing in puddles. But I do have a seed order sitting by the keyboard just waiting for me to get it made.

These are parsnip bits and Kapucijners. The sugars in the parsnip caramelized nicely don't you think.
We got five sacks to freeze in for the coming year.

We moved tomato starts from the germinating dome and heat mat, and put them under lights. The oregano is up also, but I'm going to leave it a day or two to develop. We cleaned the asparagus bed and two flower beds today, and I was shocked to see how much pruning I'll have to do.

Cleaned out the small strawberry patch, hope to soon see some flowers there in a few months.
Same raised bed had some lemon grass and parsley that needed cutting back.

What I did in the garden today, or rather in the drain lid was......shift a heap of cat dung......:smt018:smt076:smt076:smt076
The more I see how filthy cats are the more I hate them.
Imagine all the loose soil in the garden and it chooses my drain.....yuck!!!!!!!!

Kate, explain to me what you mean... "in the drain lid" I have no idea what you are referring to. We have litter boxes or the outside area, but I am clueless what a drain lid is.

Went back to the lottie to check the mite fall from the treated hives. The count from my three hives was 18, 15, 2 respectively.
    This boy is well chuffed.
