Wow Daniel your selected pics are beautiful and lovely to see. Beautiful job on the brick surround flower bed. So what ya doin later? Just kidding.

Everything is ‘Perfect’ in every way. As usual your green thumbs never seize to amaze me. So happy to see your blooms. Brings lots of smiles for the end of our short season which has yet more surprises to come.

Cute pic of the mantis looks young. Luv them.

Almost time to put your lovely poinsettia in a dark closet. Talk about shut-ins.

All I’ve been doing is watering! We are back into drought conditions and it’s showing in landscape plants around my neighborhood. I am on the obsessive side , so I won’t let my plants down! I drove by a home with a poor hydrangea that was so wilted, it was heartbreaking. The rains that get forecasted have not come to fruition- the clouds just float away. Other places are having floods, and we’re so parched. I’ll sure be happy to have a break from the hotter than normal temps too.

    Those flowers were absolutely gorgeous...

I was able to do some weeding in the flower bed by that overgrown area by my back door. It is a huge amount of weeds and grasses, so it will take awhile to take care of it all. I have 5 50 lb bags of rock salt to spread around in that area when I can get enough cut down/dug out to be able to get at that mess. There are trumpet vines, mimosa tree saplings, all kinds of weeds with sticker seeds... I will use the hedge trimmer in there when I can get rid of enough surrounding grass. I DID work on it earlier this summer but it grows so fast. There is some new vine that I do not recognize too. I thought I dug out all the roses in that flower bed, but there are a few more growing there anyway. If I can, I will dig them out before I salt that area as heavily as I can. They are some of the fairy roses.

My friend replaced the cord on my saw and I got it back today. Hopefully, I can make those 4 shelves tomorrow.

    @Daniel W your blooms are stunning !

There is now so much to do in our garden that I'm feeling a tad overwhelmed at the moment and don't know where to start. It is amazing how ,over the last 3 weeks, it's gone completely out of control !!
I have load of bulbs waiting to be planted but before that spaces need to be found and cleared out.
Pathways need clearing too and absolutely tons of cutting back is required. Until these jobs are done our garden is most definitely not looking like the place we want to sit out in and enjoy the last days of the Summer sunshine in.:(

I have so much planned to do to hopefully achieve a reasonable display next year . I won't be able to do much in the the first few months of next year due to surgery recovery...and I most definitely don't want to leave things for my Hubs to have to do ...alone.

In my head ,as I lay worrying at night, I can see exactly what needs doing but in the morning when I go into the garden...it just hits me as an overwhelming overload.
Yesterday I sketched out plans of the main borders with the main plants noted, I can then ,hopefully play around with it in the evenings.....which seem to be drawing in very quickly now, so shorter days are not going to make things easy either.

To make matters worse I seem to be going through a very painful flare up in my joints ...the injection into my hip recently did not provide me with much relief this time either.

    Oh woe is me....what a moaner I have become!!!:smt044:smt044

I only have to listen to the world news to realise how very miniscule my gripes are compared to what many other poor souls are having to deal with.

Sending healing prayers your way @Oreti . I got ya. This will pass plz just let the garden wait. Your heath is more important. Soon winter will arrive for you and your DH to both enjoy a long rest from the demands of gardens. It seems the garden is always talking to us no matter what the weather or physical limitations. Just take it easy, it’s no fun to experience more hip injuries. Tell your garden I said it can wait snd to stop naggin at ya. Bottom line no lifting, bending or pushing anything for a week. Cause I know you can get busy drawing up your garden plans and show us all.

I would be very interested to see your creatively and planning for all your new projects for your garden. :headbang:

Spent a 7 and a half hours working ( albeit slowly) out in our garden. Sorry Pac I didn't see your above post/ advice until now.

Pleased with what I got done in the end. I concentrated on working my way down one side only. Started off weeding the brick path than runs along that side. Then pulled up/ cut back a lot of spent plants that were way passed their 'glory days' . Deadheaded those that still have more to offer up. Collected some more seedheads. Lightly trimmed 4 medium sized shrubs. Finally, weeded around the remaining plants in the borders.

Hopefully will be able to attack another section tomorrow, but we do have a short spell of rain forecast in the afternoon.

Pics taken in sequence along the side worked on.

Oreti very nice and such a tidy garden. Looks fantastic. You have been energized and found your way round health limitations today.
I wish my garden looks half as nice. Your maintenance and management efforts have shown the courage and dedication you have demonstrated for your garden all these years. I admire your strength thru thick and thin to keep your amazing garden alive full of joy and happiness well within your garden world .

    Daniel—Very, very nice display today.
Your poinsettias look well, don’t they.
That was a good name you thought up for that rose type.
The Mandevillas look cheerful. They are a beautiful flower.
You must be well chuffed with that fancy plot.
    All-in-all, a inspiring posting.

    I feel your pain, Oreti!
I continue to scale back. im hoping to have as nice a garden as ever next year, but quite a bit smaller, and a lot of choices aimed towards less work. I hope.

Thanks Pac, not too sure that I was energised just determined to crack on and sort it out. Happy (ish) now with that section of the garden, just have the rest to attack now....which includes the worst section. Unfortunately the weather is on the turn too but hoping to do more this morning before the supposed rain/ thunder arrives .

@Daniel W that sounds like a good plan of action....less work sounds perfectly blissful. :)

@Oreti You are unstoppable when you decide to take on the garden . It’s always as neat as a pin letting every plant shine.
Energized or whatever send some of it my way.

Your garden is fabulous Pac....don't forget how big your plot is compared to mine. Ours is a fair size in comparison to newer builds ,especially in more residential areas but miniscule against those over your way.
I am in awe of how you all create and maintain such stunningly beautiful looking...huge....gardens!!:setc_089:

Some years, this Sorbus at the bottom of the garden we've had for over thirty years, has very little blossom so few berries.
This is a year when it has had plenty of both.

The berries hang on for longer than the leaves.

Potted up 15 new Strawberry plants that were rooted from runners. The ones we harvested fruit from this year will be ditched as they are now a couple of years old now.
Collected some more Cosmo Purity seeds ...interested to see if they come true next year.
Helped hubs with the shredding of yesterday's ' rubbish'.

Thank you @Oreti . Size of our gardens isn’t the only measure that is considered the comparison of the fruit of our labour’s. It’s the friendships, admiration, encouragement and appreciation we share with our fellow gardeners whose inspiration we receive each day that builds our visions to fruition.

A quote from Thomas Moore. “ The garden reconciles human art and wild nature, hard work and deep pleasure, spiritual practice and the material world. It is a magical place because it is not divided.”
