Most definitely will:like:. I have to say that he is extremely safety conscious and the ladder or scaffolding will be securely tethered down too. It's just me really I hate hights , he wouldn't think twice a few years back of climbing up there and walking along the roof line to check on things.

Actually, Sjoerd, it's complicated. I've read many versions. Gravenstein could be German or French, or..

From this report - "Gravenstein is one of the very oldest varieties still in existence. It is of uncertain Italian or German origin. It may be an Italian variety called Ville Blanc that was brought to the castle of Graafsten in Slesvig, Germany (now South Jutland, Denmark) in the late 16th century. It may have originated in the garden of the Duke of Augustinberg at the castle of Grafenstein in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany (just south of modern Denmark). It may be a German apple once known as Grevans apfel (Earls apple). It may also be a Russian import. We do know that it was considered the “King of Apples” in northern Germany as early as 1788, and it is still common today throughout Germany, Sweden and Denmark."

@Daniel W enjoyed the article . Thank you for posting.

@Oreti storm damage is a pain to cope with in so many ways. Let me count the ways. From A-Z .
Fixing the slate roof shingles can be complicated especially getting them all back in order. Tell me bout it… have had similar issues over the years. Hope the roof repair went ok and all the storm damage is finally complete.
Until the next one… praying no more storms comes your way.

Today did the usual… mulch, mow. Trimmed 3 small 8’-10’ strawberry trees…(Arbutus unedo, commonly known as strawberry tree, also called madrone, is an evergreen shrub or small tree in the family Ericaceae), there was a lot of dead wood and cross branches to clear out .

Several other tree branches over hang the perimeter of the pastures. Not fun mowing ducking and bobbing under tree limbs. Will need to get out the chain saw for further trimming will probably be a long term project this winter.

Pic strawberry tree berries. The tree is called strawberry tree because the fruit hanging from the branches look like strawberries. Jelly’s and jams are made with the fruits.

Not me @Pacnorwest ...it's @Logan who swoons over her Dentist.:snicker:

I'm leaving hubs to his own devices today , no climbing ladders will be allowed, and meeting up with friends for a pub lunch and a tipple. We always have a good laugh when we all get together, so should be fun.:setf_023::smt114:setf_056: So no gardening today for me.

@Pacnorwest my dentist is very good looking and very good at keeping me relaxed when having treatment which is not very often. He had a cancellation so was in at 10.30am. Didn't take long but now I've got a numb right side of mouth so have to be careful not to bit the side of my mouth.

Hubby did a bit of rose pruning for the winter, should have been last week really before the storm came.

Daniel— You are such an informed bloke. Cheers for the info. Apples, like spuds are interesting things to delve into.

Pac— I recall the pics you showed of those fruits last year. They are lovely to look at.

Loggie— So then, that DDS must be something else to leave you half numb. ;)

Loggie— to eat on the other side…it looks like you’ll be taking a walk on the wild side, right.

Same routine as the past month, trimming and mowing , mulching.
The chain saw got stuck in a tree limb, it can wait til tomorrow… it’s battery op and need to recharge the battery. The down side to battery op chain saw.

Good new for Logan. Tooth repaired, lots of mashed taters and puddings. :smt023

Sorry, I have not been here this past week. The internet thing went down last Wednesday evening while I was at church. I am not totally sure why, but our electric company worked on local power lines for a few days, and power on/off a lot while they worked. I thought perhaps Windows did it since they were pushing me to update my system. I did not want to update, but they always force it. (for example, access to my control panel is missing or moved someplace else. I have not yet found it.)

It has been cold and windy most days. Monday, I was able to burn off some of that brush/honeysuckle pile by the driveway. I will need to add more trash to it to finish burning off that mess.

I also moved one of the telephone pole pieces to where it will be used. I pushed/rolled it, it is a slight downhill from where they were setting.

Other than that, I haven't gotten to do much outdoors.

A friend came by this evening and fixed the internet thingy for me.

@AAnightowl same internet issue happens here.. power on/off.. yikes. We put a couple - Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) – Provides backup power during outages, allowing you to save your work and shut down the computer safely. Surge Protector – Shields your PC from power surges that can occur during outages or when power is restored. Glad your internet / computer is working now.

A couple years ago power company had replaced / updated the wires to the house from main wires connected across the street to the house. The company hired to update totally messed up big time. We lost frig, stove , microwave. Thank goodness we had the power protectors UPS systems connected to the computers.

Pics of south pasture clean up , mulched leaves, trimming tree branches next to woods. See pics.
