That sounds good to me, GP. I have been putting them into the compost bin and chopping them up. Perhaps I ought to give them a try.

Sjoerd, when I make beet greens I steam them and add a splash of apple cider vinegar and a dab of honey.

I just trimmed a border, lifted some pebbles and swept the path.

I think that it is too late for me to try the beetroot leaves this year, as outs are almost done for the season.
Today I harvested an enormous amount of beans, onions and more beetroot...oh yes--and more Opal plums. I am going to be jamming and processing veg all morning tomorrow morning.

Well, I won't be getting to the lottie until tea time because we are processing. Bean sorts and more plum jam. We are doing both at once. 4 mins and we can begin potting -up the jam.
    Seeya later.

Sjoerd, they are very good and I'm surprised you haven't tried them.
I didn't know they were edible until about 5 years ago when I decided
to try them. I dislike wasting food.

Keep up the good work Sjoerd!
I have done nothing in the garden waiting for two workmen that never came while tonight, the other one never showed.

My husband finished mowing the pasture today, and is greatly relieved to have that done. This spring was so wet that everything grew quickly, and it was impossible to take any machinery out into the pasture without bogging down, so he felt he was behind. I kept telling him it was not his fault, but he's an engineer through and through, so if something is wrong (or overgrown) he feels responsible.
I watered our new roses, did laundry and hung it out to dry--I dearly love having clotheslines and the smell of clothing and linens when we bring them in. Also potted up some cuttings of basil for a friend, and communed with the hens. The young ones are getting almost grown and will be going off to college soon . . . .;);)

GP--Yeah, I know...I have just never gotten around to it.

    KATE--you are too right...I know.

Today I removed about half of the honey stores that the bees have put up above their hives for me. They were getting enormously heavy to lift each time I checked the hives.
The veg is being harvested each day now. There ought to be a goodly amount for the Food Bank again.

I water the potted plants, sweat a lot and then come back into the house trying to not think about the weeds that are taking over. 100+ temps for most of this month, so far the highest has only been 102 but it feels like 107-110 out there....and that's in the shade.

Today is Food Bank day at the lottie. I had a load of beans, Swiss Chard, courgettes, and some toms for them. I walked around the complex and got more courgettes, some beetroot, cabbages and other things. I like it when folks donate their extra veg.

Some of the toms went home with us though for supper. We harvested the last of the Opal plums as well.

It is rainy today and so we won't be working in the soil, sadly. There is so much to clean up now in the flower garden. Many summer bloomers have finished.

Rain... remember a few years ago when we had River Keiper going on here... not now. it has not rained for most of the Summer here. even the weeds are wilted and dying. enjoy your rain. it is a blessing when you have none.
