Plenty rain here Carolyn, grass gets higher just watching it. Normally the gardener has to wait to be paid but I had the cash ready last week..can't mow its too wet.
Yesterday we had gales to such an extent I thought the older Acer would surely break free.
Its supposed to be in the high 20C this weekend.
Toni, hand watering is hard work. I have a hose but only for the back garden.

Today I gave water in the greenhouse and gathered the last of the veg for a birthday gift. I am having a very reasonable harvest in spite of the less than optimal weather this season.

Had a farmers market. Unfortunately I brought home melons... oh my! I really thought they would sell better but it is the day of our county fair.... lots of people there and not at the farmers market. sigh!
Now I am working on raspberries. thinning out the old canes and clipping up the new on to the wires.

Things are looking good there. Sorry to hear about your melon glut. They will keep until next week won't they. I hope that you will be able to sell them.
Too bad you can't keep a couple on chipped ice in coolers to sell. I'll bet the folks would really go for that!

Island life, there were 3 rows to get done. Kevin and I got them all finished this afternoon. hooray! We look at them daily knowing we need to get them done, but we run out of time, energy and daylight everyday and today wasn't quite so hot so it was a good day to get it done. Now I need to clean up all the prunings and compost them.

S, We just bought a great sized refrigerator. Just delivered last week. We stuffed as much left overs in there as we could for the weekend. and another one comes on Tuesday of this week for the shed. A glass door one.

I tend to leave outdoors till its just going dark and the Insects have gone to bed. I really need to find a repelant, a good one next year. So tonight another 'do' at the pebble picking up. Maybe when they cut down the Leylandi It will Inspire me. I will give them till August 31st then pounce.

Fall clean-up is beginning. Some plant debris is being removed from the flower harden. Green manure is being planted in the veggie plots.
Harvesting of beans, toms and courgettes.

The parsnip foliage is being bound up.
    toms (6).JPG

It is high and in front of the sprouts, but hopefully the sprouts will grow taller, giving the trunk more room for still more little green balls. We shall see. At any rate, since we tied the parsnips up like that, there ought to be better ventilation for both crops.

You can see beetroots still growing at the lower left-hand corner of the foto. I shall have to check the pantry list, but I believe that we have enough beetroot for this season, so what is remaining can go to the Food Bank.

Made 5 litres of tom concentrate. My hands smell of tomato.
