It does look good Carolyn. No sign of infection. And as you say, he is young and will heal quickly.

I got out this morning in 65 deg weather and it was wonderful. Did some cleaning up of the main front garden, Passionflower vines everywhere but they certainly were gorgeous in full bloom twice this summer.

First thing was bake bread.. done and out to the garden by 10:00. then we cleaned tomatoes out of cages 5 rows of them. We are tired and there is still so much more to get done.... and cut off weeds that were at the edges of the high tunnels so I could close them tonight. 42f... whoo wheee, not that chilly of a night since May.

Carolyn what do you do with the pulled up tomato plants? I ask because of concerns about blight.

I did not get out in the garden today. We drove to NYC for a wedding in Manhattan. I was interested to see the Manhattanites dressed, danced and celibrated a wedding just like regular folks do!

The baking bread sounds great Carolyn.

I went out to the community garden to continue putting the garden to bed. We are due to get a frost tonight, so I harvested armfuls of swiss chard. they went to the neighbors. My daughter ripped out the old tomato plants & we both dug over the soil.

I still have carrots, bok choi seedlings, Kale, beets & peas in the ground. We shall see how they do with the frost.

Oh Carolyn, thank you for letting us know he is healing.
    A fine young man there.

Cayuga, the veggie meal sounds SO delicious, and I'm just
wondering what should I eat. You're very amusing with your tripping.
    The micro-greens sound tasty.

Today I took out 4 tomato plants, the Compari tomatoes.
All that's left is 1 Grape tomato plant. Chilly mornings make
me think it may frost soon. I'm ready, the garlic has been planted.

Mary, We compost the tomatoes in a pile we don't reuse. waaaaaay in the back. All the "garbage" goes there like brush, stumps, raspberry canes etc... stuff I am not picking through.
Thanks GP, yes he is a fine young man. well worth the worry over.

    More cleaning up.
Checked the parsnips and sprouts. The Brussels sprouts are ~4 feet tall now and the little sprouts are forming. I may harvest some of the lower ones in a week or so to give them a try.

It's like being in a tunnel under there. The net came off today and we shall see if the pigeons leave them alone.

Thanks CAYUGA-- I had not thought of that...how you say they look, but I can see it now. I felt like a kid again crawling around in there. You know like making a tent with a blanket and two chairs.

The brussel sprouts look great. What a delight... Sounds like fun..playing in the little tunnels or making tents. One year our tomato plants were 8 feet tall and I had to tie them together because the stakes were only 4 feet . It made tunnels that I used to climb into to get the tomatoes...

As most of you know I have only been to my veggie gardens a few times this summer. When we covered the greenhouse with plastic for the winter I was just standing there in case my very special other half fell off that very tall ladder. So I walked out to the back garden and found what was left of the beans that I grew...I did grow foot long beans and others but I don't really know which is which now that they are dried.

It will be enough to make ONE mixed bean meal...we laughed as I love 7 bean soup...I will probably use them soon for some of them are not dried. I usually get many bags of all kinds of beans to store for the winter...but not this year....

Yes. Blended it is just a small baggies worth. I will be cooking them up in about 2 weeks.
