Today, about 2/3 of the area that will be my new veg plot this year is NOT covered by snow. I repeat, NOT snow covered. In a winter such as this, that is a sure sign of Spring.

Ah... so much for that. Latest weather report says 8 inches could be coming on Thursday night. I've got my fingers in my ears.... la lalalala... I'm ignoring it.

It sure doesn't look like spring around here today. At least I didn't get all the snow that Dooley and Glenda received. It is sleeting and snowing at the moment, but not much accumulation. Thank goodness. Will this winter ever be over???

Not a one! Snow up to the middle of the windows in hight, having to dig out a path just to get into the house,,lol,,,and that was after digging one out of the front of the house to get to the mail box. More snow on the way. Signs of spring? Give me a month or 3. lol.

We have had a few glimpses of the sun in recent days, plus about 2" more snow which thankfully has all but disappeared. The sun has brought on the first crocuses, pale purple early, yellow & cream. Also we have a few snowdrops and the primroses are beginning to show their faces. Our garden will need a lot of tlc as most has been flattened by the heavy snow of January but on the brighter side we are seeing more variety of birds appearing plus our daily visit from a cheeky squirrel which has his nest in our large hawthorn tree.
I have started sowing seeds and have placed orders from the Gardening Catalogues and can't wait to get started if ever the weather decides to improve which unfortunately does not seem likely for the next couple of weeks.
Daughter and I have added a further raised bed to our mini lottie and are going to grow a few strawberries.

GG!(HI) You have so many signs of Spring, despite the snow and weather reports. How reassuring.... Capt K -- I saw some narcissus poking up through some spots where the snow has melted almost away and bless 'em, they're green and robust. The snow on the holly bush finally melted and it doesn't look bad at all even though it had been laid flat out by the snow. I hear more birds. I see more squirrels jumping around. AND, today enough snow had melted that I could open my front gate again. I bought two packets of seeds yesterday -- a lettuce mix and black eyed susan vine, just for fun.

Biita - good to see you here.
My favorite sign of spring was having a coworker drop off some marigold seeds for me at work. They have been saved for multiple seed generations for just this climate. Love it :)
