It is the shape of the leaf. The edges are smooth, not serrated. Each compound leaf has the 3 or 5 parts that are smooth along each part rendering it to just look totally different. It is most noticeable when the plants are small. as they get large is isn't so eye catching because there is so much foliage you don't see each individual leaf. Since I am too busy to take photos and post them, here are a few links to see the difference. https://www.google.com/search?q=picture ... ant&client
Sorry, I just couldn't get pictures of my own taken, I was busy picking the tomatoes for tomorrow. I finished up the patch with 12 bushels picked today.. That is a lot of tomatoes. Each bushel is 50 pounds... uh- 600 pounds of tomatoes? again. I think this is the third or 4th time i have picked the patch. I am so tired I just don't remember for sure.
S, I thought I didn't have any pictures saved, but here I found one in my garden from this Spring, of a potato leaf tomato. ( photo / image / picture from carolyn's Garden )
What interesting-looking leaves for a tom. Thanks for digging out a pic for me. That was nice. I can see what you are talking about here with this example.
