Mart, we did have a Merlot, but not from Australia, the home of absolutely fantastic wines! We need to replenish our wine closet, and I'll make sure we have an Aussie Merlot, or two!
In all seriousness, are more oxygenated wines ( resurrection of flavor post fermentation) not the better display of flavor, and as such better than wines full of sulfites?
A local fellow opened a winery. One Christmas party years ago had wine with no sulfites at his home. The ladies wobbled.It was good stuff
My dear meat man at the local grocery saved a small ham for me, so we are having some of it tonight with new red potatoes from the garden, a pear and bleu cheese salad, and Sally Lunn bread. I dearly love ham, and the meat man knows that, and that with two of us, a 19 lb. ham is a bit much. He puts back smaller hams for me. I'll take him some pumpkin/pecan bread next week. I think this is the perfect definition of "symbiotic relationship."
Sjoerd, I must ask--please, what is "massaman curry"? It sounds interesting and perhaps I can find the ingredients to make it.
Jane--It is a type of South-Thai curry with Persian influences. My Bride is looking up the recipe as we type..... She says to tell you that she is not making it from scratch, rather using a paste. Once again, not in English, but if you want me to translate the ones that you can not figure out, I will do so. The Bride says though, that the internet is full of recipe's and in English! Oh, yes! I found a recipe for the curry (in English!) and I have all the ingredients except coconut milk. However, there is a World Market that I occasionally go to, and they carry coconut milk. We are going to have chicken Massaman curry for dinner next week. Hurrah! A new chicken recipe! We eat a lot of chicken, but none of the named chickens out in our coop. They are layers, not dinners. Please thank your Bride, and thank you. I hope I can reciprocate with a new recipe for you sometime.
Hey Jane-- Yeah, in my estimation the coconut milk is an absolute MUST. My Bride always says, "Ach jongen, if I put coconut in anything you will like it". hahaha. And there is some truth in that, I have a thing with coconut milk. Yeah, I would not expect you to eat your friends out there; why if you did, you might get some bad korma, or should I say, "Karma". Amazing that you had all the ingredients in house. Lucky the coconut milk is gettable. Mate, I can't wait until you have that, and who knows--one of these days, you may come with a recipe. I wonder what that would be.
