Deep in my fridge is a standing rib roast, spiced and salted, losing moisture and getting ready for our date this holiday. Likewise, downstairs, a snakey beef tenderloin whispers eat me every time I open the beer door.
Some yummy food on this site! Today we helped our daughter hang the wall hanging I gave her for Christmas in her apartment ( as well as other pictures) and then got take out at a Kenyan restaurant. They had punched a hole in their outside wall and installed a window, (kinda like the McDonalds windows, only tackier) for drive through take out. I thought it was pretty ingenious: low cost but effective and got out of the car to take a picture of it. (I get a kick out of human ingenuity, adapting to changing situations....in this case the pandemic.) Unbeknownst to me, my husband and daughter were embarrassed by me as they waited in the car! But the restaurant guy was very pleased and wound up posing for my photo, leaning out the window with a big smile on his face. My husband & daughter? Some people are just killjoys...(head shake). Anyway, we had Kenyan food which we'd never had before & it was delicious.
Tonight it was a thai curry with basmati rice. What a great story of the foto and your family. Chukle. So where’s the foto? (Chanting) Show us your foto, show us your foto, show us your foto......
Sorry... The photo with the guy leaning out the window was obscured by my thumb! This one will have to do!
I’m with Mart—I’d give that obscure foto of yours a thumbs- up. BTW, Thanks for posting the foto. The place presents well enough, I’d say.
@Cayuga Morning love the creativity for the drive through. My sweetie and I have commented on which businesses have adapted with takeout and/or outside eating. It’s always a surprise. It’s a steak night tonight. Always fun to see what others are whipping up for dinner
Jewell, I agree; it IS fun seeing what we all eat. We took a l-o-n-g hike today & are bushed so we are having leftovers. It is saag paneer with a salad maybe.
Saag paneer ... now you’re talking!. Those two words bring back all sorts of good memories. I think back over the experiences in the Indian sub- continent and I think of the delicious little wedges of Greek spanakopita. A bit the same but with goat cheese and filo dough. Cheese and spinach give a flavour that I am very fond of. How did yours turn out, Cayu.
There is a dish I am addicted to called green curry chicken. This particular weakness of character draws me to a local resturant called The Taste Of Thailand. It is just spectacular!
Well,, as all southerners do tomorrow its black eye peas and greens with ham of course and pork chops ! Peas for luck and greens for money ! It hasn`t worked yet but maybe this year,,,!
Tonight we had cornbread/tarragon stuffed salmon and broccoli and carrots on the side. Tomorrow is chicken and sausage gumbo--kind of a Cajun version of hoppin' John. I sure hope our version and Mart's version works for 2021!
All these dinners sound delicious! I love green curry, and YUM black eyed peas with greens and ham and pork chops! And yum stuffed salmon! Our leftovers of saag paneer came out great! We added more paneer, spinach and spices to extend it a bit and it was delicious. (We buy the paneer rather than trying to make it. My husband made it once & it was a lot of work) Tonight we might have shrimp with a side of artichoke. (Need to consult with the other house chefs)
