Same as Toad in the Hole..it's other name. Make a Yorkshire Pudding Mix also known as Batter Pudding... first of all Ingredients Plain Flour 100 grams 1 or 2 eggs (I use 2) 275 ml of Milk or half milk and half water sieve flour and salt together make a well in the centre and add the egg (s) add some of the liquid and beat add the rest and beat so you seem bubbles put in fridge as needs to be cold before cooking Approx 6 chipolatas sausages or smallish sausages oven on so can cook the sausages in the oven to save fuel say 10 minutes before the batter now heat on a high heat a baking pan or roasting pan with 2 tablespoons of oil.. needs to be really hot so the batter rises when added. You can add the sausages to the pan first and then the batter but lately I have cooked them apart and just added the sausages on top of the cooked batter when serving.. it seems to rise so much better that way although it does not look so good on the serving plates you can add herbs to the batter mix if you prefer... Potatoes boiled and any veggies you choose... A rich gravy for us Oxo cube and gravy powder a hint of Marmite as well (Yeast Extract) or Just a gravy choice that you prefer.... the batter can be used without any herbs for pancakes and crepes. Bon appetit
Since some mentioned serving toads, I will mention serving up a frogmore stew to my new neighbors. It's a shrimp boil basically. We did not use the crawfish because one of his daughters is challenged by her hands. So tail-on shrimp, fresh corn, carrots, red potato halves, andoullie and kielbasa sausage, garlic, onion, and Old Bay seasoning boiled up and served with garlic bread. Sides were Salad and blackberry cobbler from my garden and cold watermelon and pineapple.
Yesterday had baked breaded chicken breast with oven chips and baked beans. Today it's salad with breaded plaice fillet with baked potato that's done in the microwave, grated beetroot, sweetcorn, a bit of pickled cabbage and a pickled onion with a small piece of cheese. Hubby has 3 slices of wholemeal bread with his.
Around here its Brunswick stew,, whatever you can catch or kill with whatever you can find growing ! Easy recipe !
Today it's vegetarian mince with gravy, it tastes ok if I have it with fried red onion with garlic and Chilli and all the veg.
