My last of the fall flowers are opening. They bees appreciate them. In a normal year, all of these will be burdened with snow before they stop flowering. I think this is a Golden Glow flower ?? It is about 8 feet tall. If anyone knows the name I'd love to know. It was given to me 20+ years ago. It's a very faithful friend. The sedum is beginning to bloom which will soon be covered in bumble bees. The Ligularia ( thanks to @Tetters for the identification ) is blooming and a bee magnet. It also will have snow on it before it's blossoms fade. The bee looks like part of the flower in the first one...very camo And this flower...I think is called a Blue Groomsman??? I'm not certain. It is in my Dad's memory garden. It's a pretty purple thistle like plant. The bees love it. With the cold dewy nights, the bumbles find refuge on flowers until the world warms up. This is one of their favourite hang outs.
@Melody Mc. all looking colourful, hope that you don't get any snow yet. The golden glow flower is Rudbeckia laciniata. Cutleaf cone flower. The blue one looks like seaholly
Loggie ID’d it. I have this one too. You are too right— it is very dependable…and so lovely. Where have you been keeping those lovely flowers. They are gorgeous.
Melody…Ooo the corn husks are loaded with pinchers. I use yellow sticky tape or make your own sticky trap with duct tape and tanglefoot. If all else fails I use a flogger with a liquid aimed at killing the insects.
My latest blooming daylily. Simple dahlia. The bumble bees sleep on the stamens at night. Bottle nosed gentian, brought back from our farm by my mother 29 years ago. I've given away multiple babies of this plant. Hibiscus below. Tropical hibiscus I don't know what this is. Mandevilla Pantalonis
Thank you @Cayuga Morning your no.6 pic is I think is Montana, don't know the rest of the name, i used to have some but they didn't do well.
Loggie, did you mean, Lantana? Cayu— your blooming beauties are very, very nice. The Pantalonis is a much sought-after species.
@Cayuga Morning - really lovely! I've only seen hibiscus as the grocery store. So beautiful. I would love to get a sharing of the Pantalonis.....perhaps a cutting would be extreme and would injure the Pantalonis beyond recovery....The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pantalonis??
Melody chuckle! The pantalonis griseum actually belongs to my daughter so i will have to consult with her re a cutting. But perhaps just a snip from the a-hem hem, er, STEM would go unnoticed.
It's tough competing with pantalonis griseum but this is the best I can do until I get my Levi cutoffus washed. With the recent rains, the flowers have responded and the yard is colorful again. The Lantana Horrida just exploded. If you look at the lower right you'll see some pink which is Lantana Camera. She'll get moved this winter to where she too can thrive. To the left is a small pink rose that is being taken over! Our pink crepe myrtle just burst into bloom. The white one will soon, but it is always slower. We feared the Rock Rose had been killed by the 2021 snow/ice storm, but it has slowly reappeared. Amazing how resilient plants are!
