S-H more pics of your beautiful country . So appreciate your sharing. And your weather is warm. It’s been a long winter I almost forgot what it’s like to be out in the warm sunshine. I need to get out and soak up some Vit-D. KK Ng it would be nice to have a small covered DIY type greenhouse to cover the leaves on your toms and a small evaporated fan to cool or mister. Good luck growing the cherry toms. *** WAY’S homes can stay cool during the dog days of summer without using air conditioning.*** I have planted trees and shrubs around the house to shelter it from the extreme heat in the summer. Even with Temps over 100F and high humidity. I don’t need to use the air conditioner at all due to the transpiration from the trees and shrubs which all help with cooling the house and garden. The grass areas surrounding the home helps with absorbing the heat in high temps. I only run a small fan for air circulation. Trees and vegetation, bushes, shrubs, and tall grasses all lower the surface and air temperatures by providing shade and cooling through evaporation and transpiration, also called evapotranspiration.
We are in early summer over here in Karachi nowadays. So it's now exactly 11:00 in the morning. Conditions right now are: Temperature (dry bulb) is: 31°C - 88°F. Temperature (wet bulb) is: 28.5°C - 83°F. Pressure: 1015 mBars - 761 mmHg. Humidity: 83%. Dew point: 28°C - 83°F. Visibility: 7 Km - 4.3 Miles. Atmospheric conditions: Mildly cloudy. At the moment it's sunny with a moderate breeze from the south temp 5c feels like 1c. This is from my kitchen window.
Not good as we're in for a very gusty day with prolonged winds with speeds up to 60 mph.....goodbye Spring Blossoms.
Cloudy with gusty winds from the south south east temp 7c feels like 4c. very cold with the gusty winds.
Too hot outside now. Which is why I have to run the air conditioner... Therefore I'm now going to stay inside until sunset - And this is early summer. So just wait a month and I'll show you all how things really become like over here. Outside temperature: 34°C (93°F). Humidity around 85% Inside temperature: 20°C (68°F). Air conditioner power consumption: 2 Amps at 243 Volts, (50Hz, single phase).
It's raining right now, with a break within 12.30 am. Gusty winds from the south south east temp 7c feels like 4c.
At least it's dry ...for now, but the winds !!!, just hoping the old greenhouse can escape without injury this time.
Please put clear sticky tape on the inside of all glass panels in your green house. That way even if one breaks, there won't be glass flying everywhere.
Thanks for offering but no ...can't cope with extreme heat....not often I would say this but I think I'll stick with our very wet weather and gales!
Oh believe me we do @S-H.....have great experience of trying to protect our poor greenhouse as we've live here for the past 42 years. Not only do we get the force of the wind from the Solent but we we're also surrounded by open countryside too...double whammy!!
