Dooley, that's the spirit! But if that is how you feel, you really need to perk up your turtle a bit. He looks a little down at the heel!

BTW, I don't feel old either. I am in better shape now than I was 5 years ago. I belatedly realized that what everyone says about the importance of exercise is actually true, and I "got with the program". My husband and I are heading out for a camping trip that will include a stint of backpacking. Please wish us strong backs & good weather.

I have an exercise bike that dr says would help my knees if I'd remember to use it now and again. I know that exercise does help arthritis. Have a great camping trip and be careful with the backpacking. It's easier to lose balance when carrying a pack.

According to my daughters you can call yourself "old" when you hit 90, so I think most of us are safe. :D

We're all very young at heart Cayuga!!
I really don't mentally feel old at all. Only when I realize how "out of touch" I am with all the technology the young people are so addicted to. Let em have it!
It's the simple life for me.
I do think gardening keeps us young too.

When I look at teenagers and think "Man, when I was that age..."

I may not be as old as some of you, but when I think that in 2.5 years Ill be 30, I start going "Omg Im too immature to be 30! ahhhh!" :smt044

Though my body keeps trying to tell me Im much older

In addition, I've begun to contemplate Hades, and the hereafter. I just went to the kitchenn and wondered, what the Hades am I here after?

My son will be 50 years old on Monday. I think that might make me feel old. He is the oldest. The youngest will be 45 on Sept.lst and the middle son will be 48 on Oct. 26th. I didn't think I was that old yet but I must be older than I think I am.

A few years back my 99 year old neighbor wanted me to look up all her meds online to make sure none were going to kill her. When they finally put her in a nursing home, she'd call me often to help break her out! She had a twinkle in her eye and even had a bit of heartbreak at 97 when her last boyfriend broke up with her. She made it to 103! and did not go willingly! She had a stroke pulling out a really stubborn weed at 99 and told me often that she wished she'd left it alone! I promised her to never struggle with a big weed on a hot day or it will rob you of your last ten years! Her mother lived to be 108 and she was determined to beat her!

She told me the best stories from her youth and never seemed to be a difference in our ages. She taught me to stop worrying about what other people thought. She also survived 5 different cancers over a period of 50 years!

Another neighbor walked past my house daily at 9am and returned at 1:30... I finally went out to meet him. He was walking to the Diner (the same one in the old Mayberry shows) for a fried pork chop sandwich. He told me that the last four doctors he had told him to stop eating them and he said that he went to three of their funerals, the fourth, his current doctor decided to shut up when he heard that.

For what it's worth, a fried pork chop sandwich is a pork chop that's been beaten with a mallet, dipped in a batter and deep fried. they pile coleslaw and hot sauce on it and put it in a big bun. I think it tastes like a pork chop in a pancake but DH loves them! The last time I took my neighbor, the man frying them in the front window told us he'd been doing it since 1929! He then started flirting with her! I was seriously wondering what was in the water here!

I realized it when I started celebrating birth-weeks instead of birth-days. It now takes all week to celebrate like I used to do in ONE day! Coming soon... birth-months! :D

Cheryl, my MIL does birthday months and if I'm not imagining things, they seem to now be birthday seasons.
