Hi, P. the black plant was grown from a cutting out of a florist bouquet given to me.It is called'varnish' and it is growing in shade, not a fast grower but worth the wait.It is in the ground. more sun would make it lighter colour I think. The Gynura is about 3 years old and 3ft high.I cut it down every so often and it shoots away with lovely new growth. It is next to the black varnish under a tree, and I grew that from a piece as well. The flowers are scruffy so I cut it down when it flowers, the leaves are what I really want.I think if it is healthy it could be pruned to whatever shape you want, I just cut it off to about 18" and it grows back quite bushy. I dont know how it would go indoors.
I don't know how I forgot about the Hyacinth bean vine. Everything about it is "purple"... the blooms.. the stems... the veins... the backside of the leaves... and of course the beans!
