Facinating archeology findings during the first thru 4th century, possibility a tax collection center and an entire Roman town. Interesting how it was mapped out.over 400 years collected in one field.
Nice to have beautiful grass meadows. I have seen so many examples in the National Parks in the US. Even one of the hottest places on earth in California the Mojave desert have had a beautiful show of wildflowers this year . I tried that on a section a few years ago. Sadly did not have the turn out intended. Oh boy if I do a not mow on the pastures it’s so hot in august it will turn to dust as the gophers and moles, voles all take over . By the fall the pastures will look like a 1000 hole golf course. I also have horses that graze and have to keep the poisonous weeds and some trashy grasses out. Especially the wild clover has way to much sugar for horses. Even without grazing animals it would turn into a huge mess with gopher / mole mounds with tunnels to the ends of the earth. Wild life is great to experience under some conditions. The forests share a lot of wildlife with us yearly. I think the garden has a lot of pollinators and insects thruout the growing season . It would be nice to have a meadow but the summer extreme heat lately can be a fire hazard if not kept mowed. Believe me my whole sore human body would be so much happier without the constant mowing. I should have stalk in those pain patches made from hot peppers. They do help I use them a lot this time of year. TMI.
It's ok to regularly mow your pastures, it's when if you leave them for a month and then mow them. In that time a lot of insects and small animals move in and can be dangerous for them. Around here all of the grass hasn't been mowed by the council and it's about a foot high with cow parsley, nettles and a few other plants and i bet they'll be around soon.
I'm glad that we don't live there and i hope that the people were ok. Yes i heard that there will be a shortage of cocoa this year.
I think it’s interesting they have devised a bio marker to identify the virus and help contain the virus. I have been concerned by this newly discovered virus in the trees of the PNW.
I think that there's a lot of viruses and diseases in a lot of plants and trees, they're trying to understand and treat them as well as they can, some of it is all to do with climate change and how they're spreading.
Logan very good assessment of the new virus’ popping up in plants around the world. But plz dear lord not our chocolate trees. I do have a lot of Douglas fir , sequoia and old growth forest next door and trees surrounding the property. I worry about our animals and mowing near these trees. Not to mention in my own garden trees. It’s always something. I’m looking into a government agency to come and test my trees. If they are infected with this virus then what and how are they removed. Lumberjacks wearing special clothing like space suits to protect agains inhaling the spores from this virus. Kind of hard to imagine men in spacesuits climbing up 100’ trees to protect the spread of this new virus from spreading to homeowners.
