We have encountered so many uneducated, simple minded, and (yes, I'll say it DUMB) people.
Example one: Fourth graders who had never heard of fractions. They were the same who said "funner"instead of "more fun". When I corrected them, they told me their teacher said that.
Example two:It isn't just English that is taking a beating, it is also science. A man told me, in all seriousness, that it got light at dawn because the "night clouds" hid in the trees. I asked him if dawn happened the the Gobi desert, a place notorious for being treeless. He just asked me what that Gobby was. Another person argued in public that the sun revolved around the earth. Let's hope it stays in its orbit and doesn't get too close to earth!
Example three: The words press, touch, or push do not exist when it comes to buttons on electronics. One "mashes" the button.
Sometimes I feel like banging my head against a wall and screaming. But then I just go look for night clouds, mash a button, and thing of all the funner things I could be doing.
