New place, new gardenIt's been a long time since I visited Garden Stew and so much has happened in the past year. After working so hard on the gardens in the old place, we took advantage of an opportunity and bought a lot in a gated retirement community in Ojai, California and ordered an adobe manufactured home from Phoenix, AZ. I didn't have much space for a garden but managed a small courtyard in the front and a back patio from our bedroom. I hired a landscaper to put in the hard scape and a few plants but I'm busy now trying to design something a little better. We have an adobe wall in front. It was made out of sandbags and stuccoed over. I planted a started honeysuckle vine to grow over the wall. I also have a couple of starter Clematis for the wall around the patio in the front. Our lot is a corner lot flanked by walls with a large oak tree shading one side of the house. I've inserted some photos of the front. I'll take some of the back soon and share them with you. It's lovely to hear from you again. Now I can see what's been keeping you bust for so long.Congratulations on your new home and garden Eileen. I hope you have many, many happy years there.
Thanks, Eileen. It was a rough year last year with the move, 2 elderly mother's being put in assisted living and hubby needing surgery. I'm so glad to be all moved in and able to just play in the new yard. Getting my sewing room up and running was fun too.
I do like the looks of it! You've done alot and bet you'll do even more to make it postcard perfect.
Thanks, Cheryl. We had originally planned on retiring in Sedona AZ, but the kids and grandkids are on the west coast and we wanted to stay near them. So, I brought the Southwest to me with my little Adobe home. Also, as retirees, we didn't want high energy bills so the solar home seemed to be the way to go.
What a lovely home and the yard is perfect. You have certainly been busy with family and move. Glad to here you are doing well and finding time for yourself. Login or register to leave a comment. |
