Pond Water Disappearing

My pond water disappears at different levels when filled. Sometimes water stays at one level then that disappears.. Last year is was drained twice and then never lost water again. I keep thinking something is drinking it, but hubby and friends say no..there is a leak. Any ideas??

I had the same problem with my little pond last year. It would go down a few inches one day and be fine the next few days. I kept thinking that something was drinking from it too, but as it turned out there was a small leak. I guess dirt would clog up the hole for a while and take a few days to leak out again.

Thank you both for responding. I had failed to mention there is also a waterfall with the pond. I moved the hose more towards the middle of the waterfall and filled the pond. There was no leakage this time. Perhaps the hose was spraying out water on the side. Time will tell!!!!
