Flowers and thorns

I have a large climbing flowering bush with tiny clusters of pink flowers. I don't remember planting it.... I think it was a Hurrican Katrina" present.
Anyways, I would like to know if this is a rose bush of some kind. Are roses the only flowers that have thorns? If it is a rose, I was wondering if I cut off a stem and planted it in soil, would I be able to grow a new plant.

Pond Water Disappearing

My pond water disappears at different levels when filled. Sometimes water stays at one level then that disappears.. Last year is was drained twice and then never lost water again. I keep thinking something is drinking it, but hubby and friends say no..there is a leak. Any ideas??
