*** IMPORTANT LEGAL NOTE ***
Growing cotton at home is illegal in some states due to the Boll Weevil Eradication Program. It is illegal in the states in which cotton is a cash crop, including (but not necessarily limited to):
Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.

The common name "Black Cotton" refers to the very dark foliage, the actual cotton produced by this plant is white.

zuzu's petals (2148) wrote the following about Zamia furfuracea on Oct 14 2015 (Last edit was on Oct 14 2015)

It is very important for gardeners/homeowners to be fully aware that Zamia furfuracea poses a toxic danger - especially the attractive, (and apparently sweet-tasting) red seeds, which are EXTREMELY toxic - many pet deaths (slow and painful organ failure) have resulted from ingestion of the seeds.

zuzu's petals (2148) wrote the following about Monstera deliciosa 'Albo Variegata' on Oct 11 2015 (Last edit was on Oct 11 2015)

The strikingly variegated foliage is the main attraction for most who choose to grow this plant - each leaf is unique in the amount and pattern of variegation.

A "cousin" of the Brugmansia, but with much more petite flowers which appear in prodigious clusters on new growth - responds well to judicious pruning.

zuzu's petals (2148) wrote the following about Hedychium x 'Luna Moth' on Oct 08 2015 (Last edit was on Oct 08 2015)

The flowers of this hybrid are larger and more angular than "White Butterfly Ginger" (H. coronarium), and the plant itself is more compact.

zuzu's petals (2148) wrote the following about Manettia cordifolia on Oct 08 2015 (Last edit was on Oct 08 2015)

This vine is slow to emerge in spring, but is a quick grower once it gets going.
It's a hummingbird magnet and produces flowers from mid-summer until frost.

It is my understanding that this species is NOT a good choice for those who wish to provide a food source for Pipevine Swallowtail Butterfly larvae (Battus philenor), as it is apparently toxic to them.
There are a number of other species of Aristolochia which are suitable for butterfly gardens, and it is worth doing research to avoid mistakes.

Velvety emerald foliage with sharply contrasting veinage.

Hoya linearis is a delicate and rather finicky member of the Hoya family, and over-watering is one sure path to destruction.
The long, pendulous stems are slender, straight, flexible and covered with thin, fuzzy, and somewhat glaucous leaves, presenting a decidedly attractive, succulent appearance.
The umbels of small, waxy, white flowers are a bonus.

zuzu's petals (2148) wrote the following about Hedychium greenii on Oct 01 2015 (Last edit was on Oct 01 2015)

Although this Hedychium does not produce seed, it does produce plantlets along the stem - quite unique.
Another unique feature is that the stems and the undersides of the foliage have a darker, maroon-ish coloring
