Proud Grandma alert! My granddaughter was at the World Irish Dancing championships in Philadelphia this week. This is the biggest international event in Irish dancing and the first time it was held in the United States. Well, my granddaughter competed in the girl's figure dancing for her age group 11-13. And they won first place! Out of all the groups from all over the world, they won! Here's a photo taken right before they went out on stage. My granddaughter, Alara, is on the bottom row, second from left. Eileen World Irish Dancing Competition( photo / image / picture from EileenT's Garden ) This blog entry has been viewed 377 times

Congratulations to Alara and the entire dance troup.
How nice for them! They must have worked so hard! Yay!
Big congratulations all around, well done! Imagine, you've got a World Champion there. No wonder you're proud.
Amazing achievement, well done! And Irish dancing too :) (I'm Irish)
Alana and her dancing team must be so proud of themselves. What a fantastic result. I love their costumes and their hairstyles. That's a photograph that MUST go up on a wall.
Congratulations Eileen. I can imagine that you are VERRRRY proud. :-)
The dress she's wearing is the school dress and it's traditional. She has a solo dress that's very elaborate and flashy. As for the patterns of the dresses, a lot of the seamstresses who make the dresses use their own designs and there's also copyrighted designs they can buy.
What a great victory for them. Your granddaughter is very sweet and all the team look adorable. Congratulations.
i bet they are super happy, well done to them!
What precious little lassies. Congratulations!
That is a wonderful thing.
