Triumphant Weed Defeat (For Now)

Category: Garden in the Ghetto | Posted: Fri Aug 10, 2007 9:46 am

Still fat and sassy from the celebratory feast of my "Very Veggie" potato salad, pesto pasta and a bottle of cheap wine.
We finally took back what was ours and planted some grass seed in the former stronghold of dandelions, crabgrass, clover and their allies.
Oh, we pulled, raked, seeded and cursed. Endurance and strong drink, in the delicious form of iced vanilla coffee, were on our side!
So, now that the weeds are gone, I suppose I'll share the victory pictures....

Rob being a MAN!

Here I am, basking in the glory...

Dressed for success. Even my garden boots were made to rock and roll.

We wanted to do our version of American Gothic, but the tomato plant takes horrible pictures.

Love the wellies Lexxi!!!!! Nice to 'meet' you and Rob. Looks as though you've both done a great job in the garden. Next - piccies of a beautiful, green lawn?

Those wellies do indeed rock! I think you will be seeing a nice blanket of green before too long. Those weeds won't give up 'their' patch without a fight though.

Nice to meet both of you :)

Great to 'meet' both you and Rob. Good work on that patch of soon to be lawn
Cool boots, I think I have seen those boots at Hot Topic.

Tomato plants are horrible photographers, they can't stand still. Now Fig trees on the other hand do a much better job of holding the camera. But you have to wait forever for a fig on an upper branch to fall and hit the button to actually take the picture.

Ooo, the possibilities! Even looks like you have good soil to work with, a Definite plus! (and I love the piratey boots!)
Hope Rob the Man's back doesn't give him any grief in the morning :)

Rob let out a few very manly whines last night for me to get him a heating pad. His poor knees.
And I got the wellies from Nordy's, but later found that you can buy them elsewhere for a lot cheaper. Chooka is the brand name and they come some AWESOME styles (I'm dying for a pair of the cupcake ones).
That spice of the stew comment gives me an idea for a poll! Thank you all.

Nice work! It's too hot to work in the yard so I told my husband that I was going downstairs to figure out a plan to finally take over the very back of our yard. He told me that I could not use gasoline even if the fire ants attack me again. I started tackling the very back this spring then gave up in defeat and the fact that I was stung multiple times by wasp. Back to the planning. Oh yes....Welcome to the stew!!
