Winter Wild Life in Our YardMy in laws are here and they LOVE to feed the birds and the squirrels. We get A LOT of wildlife while they are here. The bird and squirrel feeders are always loaded with bread, seed and fat balls they make. Today what should be a skinny red squirrel was busy filling his face for over an hour. He is a rolly polly thing that is for sure. He managed to eat enough of the slice of bread so that he could carry up a nearly by birch tree. He dropped it and had to fight for it. two blue jays swooped in and tried to get it away from him. I have named the squirrel Sammy. Sammy won the bread and scurried across the yard and up another tree. ![]() ![]() ![]() Here is one of the many, piggy Bluejays the come to the many feeders we have filled this time of the year. ![]() This blog entry has been viewed 378 times

Gardenmama that would have been fun to watch the fight over the sliced of bread. The Blue is very busy gr\etting his food too.
Your squirrel is adorable, wish I had one too! We feed the birds here, but with that big, hunting tomcat of ours I feel it's kind of entrapment. *lol*
Your red squirrels are so different from our Scottish ones but still as cute. We don't have jays in this part of Scotland but magpies try to steal from the squirrels in our garden. Thank you for letting us see your photographs - they are lovely.
Hiyah Michelle,
Michele, Sammie looks like he is well fed. And eating for over an hour. Should have named him 'piggie'! Thanks for sharing!
*melt* thanks so much for posting these adorable pictures!
