Who is that tapping on my door?

Category: Visitors in the garden | Posted: Sun Mar 14, 2010 1:21 am

I have a song sparrow that nests in the bushes near my front door. This is the 3rd year in a row that I have heard the tapping at my front door. I have a shiny brass kickplate at the bottom of my door and about 10 times a day he fights with his reflection. I have a piece of cardboard that I have to tape over the kickplate. I thought I could take it down after a couple of weeks, wrong...I have to leave it up for 6 weeks.

If I had answered you, "Tis some visitor, I muttered, tapping at your chamber door -
Only this, and nothing more"...I would have been waaay wrong.
That a very cute little birdie.

That is funny! Hope the little birdie doesn't have a headache!

I have to bang on the door before I open it, I don't want him flying in. We took down the cardboard and put up opaque plastic so far its working.

Too funny! I thought my nesting mockingbirds were a pain, and they are, but they only are annoying when we are outside on our patio.

Great photos. We have a pair of juncos that do something similar to the mirror on the car. We have to wash the mirrors before taking off. Some little birds sure are territorial with themselves.
