disappointed!
Category: nature's marvels | Posted: Tue Dec 08, 2009 5:55 am i am so sorry to report about the caterpillar of last week. one morning i found the pupa transparent, it was not broken at all. the next day, the shell also had vanished. what would have happened? i felt very sad and disappointed. well, it is also one of nature's ways, i believe. i am starting a small experiment on vegetables. must see. some beans, some greens. let me see how it comes out. i get a lot of pests, for which i normally use neem oil. but sometimes it doesn't make any difference. i do not want to use any chemical pesticides if i can. cat in 'samadhi'
Category: nature's marvels | Posted: Thu Nov 26, 2009 5:44 am well, yesterday i found that the caterpillar had gone into 'samadhi'- pupa stage. it's so beautiful. i wonder why it is decorated so much. when the butterfly comes out there is not a trace of the coulors or glitter on the used shell.

one more caterpillar
Category: nature's marvels | Posted: Tue Nov 24, 2009 6:23 am ok, this seems to be the only thing i write about - caterpillars! this one is on one of my bonsai trees, and is growing still. i think this is of the black with red & yellow dots butterfly of which i had posted a picture earlier, just out of the cocoon. then there was this monster of a hopper which one day chewed on one of my anthurium flowers. it was about 4" long and had legs so long, it was scary. i had to kill it to get it out of my shade net housing.

another surprise!
Category: nature's marvels | Posted: Thu Nov 12, 2009 5:48 am I didn't know that my lawn is a hatching ground for the chamilions. today i found two or three little ones running around. they are shedding their skin and the colour is not very defenite on their back. i was not able to take a picture though. i got another shot of the other one on the tree. there is another visitor doing his rounds in the morning. he does a rope walk also to the next building from the coconut tree in front of my house. then i found this butterfly just out of its cocoon and resting. by evening it will fly off, i am sure.

first flowers of bogainvillae ( photo / image / picture from greenfairy's Garden ) now, i love butterflies, no questions. but i don't like them laying their eggs on the leaves of my plants. because in a few days, their monsters of caterpillars eat up all the leaves. see what this one has done to my alocasia.

Category: nature's marvels | Posted: Tue Oct 20, 2009 10:50 am i saw the morning glory by cherylad. so beautiful. mine is simple compared to that. looks quite ordinary. busy these days, preparations - full swing. rains have stopped and it is getting warm. my plants are in a sorry state because of the painting work in and around the house.
