some more greens

Category: nature's marvels | Posted: Sat Mar 13, 2010 5:41 am

ok, they gave me a prize for my small garden this year also. in fact, it was a surprise for me because, i entered my name only on a friend's insistance and then the judge who came to inspect was not very impressed since i had nothing new from last year. anyway, i think there weren't many entries to compete. but i feel happy about the whole thing, and i feel like i am doing something in the garden.

some more pictures from the garden to go with this.

beautiful & perfect!

Category: nature's marvels | Posted: Tue Mar 09, 2010 5:54 am

the thing is, everything in nature is beautiful and perfect. only we make them imperfect, distorted, and corrupted. when i take a look around in the garden, i am always reminded of how perfect it all is.

so, here are some of the plants which i feel are perfect. i do not know what to do when pests arrive though. in fact, the pests are also perfect & beautiful.

hello,

i feel i have to write today. nothing in particular, but to keep in touch. uploading some pictures of the bogainvillea i have. i do not know whether i can call them bonsai, but i have put them in shallow pots, and they are very young. since they come out with flowers, i wait until they finish flowering to trim them.

I am back!

Category: thoughts & plans | Posted: Tue Mar 02, 2010 6:55 am

hello!

I am back! after a long break, it feels good to be back. we had a lovely wedding and everything is back to normal. my son and daughter in law have gone back to dubai where he is working. so now i am back in my garden. there are quite a few flowers at this time of the year. even though i neglected them for two months, my plants are doing well. and the temperature is moving up everyday now, hot and humid.
i am putting in some personal photographs in. i hope you will not mind, since we were so excited about the wedding and all that. will come back with more pics from the garden soon too. (hope this is not against the rules.)

disappointed!

Category: nature's marvels | Posted: Tue Dec 08, 2009 5:55 am

i am so sorry to report about the caterpillar of last week. one morning i found the pupa transparent, it was not broken at all. the next day, the shell also had vanished. what would have happened? i felt very sad and disappointed. well, it is also one of nature's ways, i believe.

i am starting a small experiment on vegetables. must see. some beans, some greens.
let me see how it comes out. i get a lot of pests, for which i normally use neem oil. but sometimes it doesn't make any difference. i do not want to use any chemical pesticides if i can.

cat in 'samadhi'

Category: nature's marvels | Posted: Thu Nov 26, 2009 5:44 am

well, yesterday i found that the caterpillar had gone into 'samadhi'- pupa stage. it's so beautiful. i wonder why it is decorated so much. when the butterfly comes out there is not a trace of the coulors or glitter on the used shell.

one more caterpillar

Category: nature's marvels | Posted: Tue Nov 24, 2009 6:23 am

ok, this seems to be the only thing i write about - caterpillars! this one is on one of my bonsai trees, and is growing still. i think this is of the black with red & yellow dots butterfly of which i had posted a picture earlier, just out of the cocoon.
then there was this monster of a hopper which one day chewed on one of my anthurium flowers. it was about 4" long and had legs so long, it was scary. i had to kill it to get it out of my shade net housing.
