Camping out at West Yellowstone,Montana
Category: Camping Out | Posted: Thu Aug 24, 2006 1:15 am As everyone knows I went to my daughters(Heathermt75)in Montana on my vacation.I had a great time while there.I really wanted to stay forever, but all had to end .The weather is much cooler than in Texas. We went camping to West Yellowstone,Montana. It was so cold at night this Texan almost froze to death.I had my sweats on and a jacket it was 36 degrees one morning.Almost as cold the other mornings. I saw my first IMax theather. We saw Yellowstone and then Bears .Loved ever minute of it.I have some pictures to show everyone. This was Heather and I playing around at the first place we camped at on our way.Notice the sun rays in the picture. Heather caught me reading at the camp picnic table. I really loved the river behind me.It had lots of rafters riding the rapids just past us. Heather enjoyed it here too. So did Trey a little to much :) Oops boy was that rock slippery Papa . We went on to West Yellowstone the next day and went fishing in Madison Lake This is Richie and I fishing off the bank. Trey had his own little Superman Rod and Reel. Trey found his own little wadeing hole.He enjoyed this little spot so much. Will do more later. This blog entry has been viewed 2018 times
Fire Ants on plants
Category: Baby Eli is ill | Posted: Fri Aug 04, 2006 6:27 am This started out to be a great day. When I got to work The yard Maint.man was redoing all out flower beds with Cigar Plants or Fire Cracker plants. I wasn't sure which as my plants like them are red and yellow tipped flowers and these are all red.Lots of Monkey Grass being dug up and tossed out.Well, being who I am and loving almost all plants for sure free ones .I ask if I could have them .He said yes he would bring them to the Guard Shack. He left them outside in the shade. One of our drivers came in and I got him to help me get them to the car when I took my right hand off the box it was covered in fire ants .It didn't take but seconds to get that box out of my car .I have app.30 bites on my hand and other bites on my feet and legs and left hand.My hand is really swollen bad .My joints are hurting .I gave all my free plants to Evelyn a friend at work .She has a pickup truck and a friend of hers loaded it in the back.I hope everyone on Stew doesn't have fire ants . I know those from Texas do.They are so very painful and have you covered in a split second. We loose baby calves and all kinds of animals to them. I finally got home to my Benadryl and Alcohol and a pain pill .I am now feeling drowsey . I sure hated to give my box of plants to someone else I have one plant of Monkey Grass .Evelyn said she would share when she got the ants off and they started growing .I sure hope she remembers. This is so true (Thought all would enjoy)
Category: Make each day count | Posted: Tue Jul 25, 2006 6:20 pm Make Each Day Count IF I HAD MY LIFE TO LIVE OVER: I would have invited friends over to dinner even if the carpet was stained and the sofa faded. I would have eaten the popcorn in the "GOOD" living room and worried much less about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the fireplace. I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth. I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day because my hair had just been teased and sprayed. I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage. I would have sat on the lawn with my children and not worried about grass stains. I would have cried and laughed less while watching television and more while watching life. I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth would go into a holding pattern if I weren't there for the day. I would never have bought anything just because it was practical, wouldn't show soil or was guaranteed to last a lifetime. When my kids kissed me impetuously, I would never have said, Later. Now go get washed up for dinner." There would have been more "I love yous" and more "I'm sorry's"; .....but mostly, given another shot at life, I would seize every minute..... look at it and really see it ... live it ... and never give it back. To the right of it is my eggplants .I have so many fruit from them I am giving them away (The dark spots on them are fruit) .This is the little garden that has grown up.Behind the eggplants is a trellis covered with cucumbers My Zinnias are in the tires. The silver pot holds my Black Pearl Pepper. On the right past the tires is my Althea bush. In the white pot is a Ginger Root that is now coming up. A little different view .On the right is part of my arch that has my Mandavilla's and the also the tall funny shape plant is a Mullin Plant .It was dug up and potted its starting to bloom this morning .In one tire is wild Cone Sombreo plants and next to it is Glads in a tire. This is one of my Plumeria Plants .I have 3 .They haven't bloomed not sure if they bloom the first year or not .Does anyone by chance know it they do?
