Last Bubba Update
Category: Pets | Posted: Sun Feb 18, 2007 2:35 pm Bubba ate a whole can of cat food last night, so he is back to his normal self. He has two days of meds left and his eyes are still a little fa-di-ka, (yucky), but not bad. He insist on going out, so we let him, as he has no congestion. Now the problem will be to get him to eating dry food again as he loves his canned stuff. He is a charming fellow and I am very thankful that he is doing better. Bubba's Back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Category: Pets | Posted: Fri Feb 16, 2007 12:48 pm Well the big guy is back to normal. He is eating like his old piggish self and he now protests his meds. He tried to bite me last night the bad boy. His nutrirional supplement is finished and he has 4 days of antibiotic pills left. I will be glad when he is finished those. His eyes are still a little runny but that's all. Thanks for everyone's concern. This blog entry has been viewed 820 times
PM Bubba Update
Category: Pets | Posted: Wed Feb 14, 2007 3:02 am Bubba if feeling much better. He is eating more, has had his second dose of meds. We let him out for about 5 minutes, just long enough to potty. He came in and got on back of the sofa, preened a little and is now sleeping with is strippety tail slowly swishing. I feel all better knowing that he feels better. For those of you who do not know, we raised Bubba cat on a bottle from 2 weeks old. His mom was a feral who brought us the litter of 3. We raised them all and kept Bubba. Bubba Update
Category: Pets | Posted: Mon Feb 12, 2007 7:52 pm Our Bubba woke up this morning feeling better. One eye was clear and he ate better this morning. He also drank some water. He wanted out, but I vetoed that. So he is in the shower sleeping. We are going to hold off on the vet and see how he is in the morning. I don't think it is life threating. Cats do get an upper respiratory thing that is fatal and that's what I was worried about. But he would not be improving if that is what it is. This blog entry has been viewed 568 times
Kitten Update, Not Good
Category: Pets | Posted: Thu Feb 08, 2007 1:35 am Elfie, as Regina named her, has disappeared. This happened yesterday. My brother remembers seeing her playing at about 10 am and no one saw her afterwards. We would let her go out during the day, but kept her in at night. I really don't know what happened. New Addition
Category: Pets | Posted: Thu Feb 01, 2007 3:33 am I was just thinking that we had not aqquired any new cats, which I quess I shouldn't have done. No sooner was the thought out, than the girl next door brings us a kitten. She found it in the middle of the highway, no houses around, caked with mud. She said she knew we would take care of it so she picked it up. Thanks Brit. She is a tiny little solid black thing with a round face. Really cute, but aggravating as all get up. With the weather so bad I hate to leave her out, although she does go out during the day if it is not raining. She has decided I am her #1 human and sits on my shoulder while I am at the computer. I am hoping to find a good home for her, but cats are a disposable commodity around here so chances are slim. I really wish they would quit coming. This blog entry has been viewed 731 times
Charity and the Garbage Truck
Category: Pets | Posted: Sun Nov 12, 2006 1:12 am While we were saving for a place of our own we lived in a ratty trailer park by a stinky swamp. The trailer park had a garbage hopper that was emptied weekly by a very large truck with the arms over the front to pick up the hopper. Well, Charity hated this truck, she really wanted to do it bodily harm. Now remember she only weighs 11 pounds. I guess she was about 2 years old when she finally got her chance to get the big bad truck. I thought it had already passed through the trailer park and wanted to walk down to Mom's trailer. I opened the door to peek out and that was when Charity heard it gearing down to turn in the last drive to the trailer park. Zoom, right between my legs at the speed of lighting. I was right behind her yelling at the top of my lungs, to no avail. The driver saw what was going on so he stopped the truck for me to catch Charity. When it came to a stop she ran over there barking and grabbed the front tire and started shaking her head back and forth. I thought this man was going to split a gut laughing at her. I tried to grab her, but she just ran under a trailer. I had to stay between her and the truck while he emptied the hopper to keep her from trying to attack again. I just bet he still talks about the garbage truck killing dog. This blog entry has been viewed 629 times
How We Got Charity
Category: Pets | Posted: Sat Nov 11, 2006 1:14 am There was a food closet at a church we used to attend. The food bank gave out food and we would donate our time when we went to pick up the food. Then we would head back to the church to unload the food. Very routine. Except this time. We got to the church, unloaded the food, but it in the room used for the food closet and went to leave out of the side door. There sat this very tiny black and brown puppy. I looked at her, and then at Richard and said NO, we do not need another dog. I walked up the side of the church to the car, turned around to get in the car and here is Richard with the puppy, "We can't just leave her here, she is too tiny and something will happen to her." Me, "No, we don't need her.", Richard, "Well I'm not leaving her here." So that's how we got her, and I named her Charity. ![]() This blog entry has been viewed 532 times
Cool Front and Cats
Category: Pets | Posted: Sat Oct 07, 2006 1:49 pm Our land is set up with our mobile home and Mom's facing one another with a good size yard inbetween. We have a security light for when I have to go back and forth at night. Last night we had a cool front moving through. It was nice and breezy with no mosquitos buzzing. Well the cats decided it would be a good night to play. There must have been at least a dozen of them running around, climbing trees, and chasing each other. They are so fun to watch with their antics. Tiny can jump 4 feet straight in the air from a standing still position. He is quite the acrobat. Big fat Bubba will hide behind a blade of grass, peeking out, and he really thinks no one can see him. Of course, the others play along and let him pounce out and "attack" them. Ms. Kittle, the youngest and smallest of the pride, is also the toughest. She cuts no one any slack. And when it is time to eat, guess who eats first, Kittle. She will get in the middle of the food and growl. All these big tomcats just sit back and let her eat. Then there is Bobbert with no tail and his long back legs. It is so funny to watch him run. When I got the inside cats in for the night they were still romping and stomping. I wonder if the others stayed up all night playing. This blog entry has been viewed 639 times
Not A Good Day
Category: Pets | Posted: Sat Sep 23, 2006 1:19 pm It is never a good day when you have to dig a hole to bury a pet. We lost one of our rescues. He was a big fellow, solid black. They came from next door, the mom had them in one of our feral shelters. The neighbors brought the mom home then never fed her so she ended up eating from our food table. We had her spayed and all of the kittens neutered. We found him and he was semi paralyzed, he would drink, but not eat. I think he ate a blue tailed skank, they are deadly to cats. I have seen a few around here, but they are too fast to kill. We do know that while he was here he never went hungry and was always loved. This blog entry has been viewed 638 times
