A little BackgroundWhen my DH and I were married, my father in law gave us "pick of the place". He allowed us to select 2 acres anywhere on his 38 acre homestead. (My husband's family has lived on this piece of land since the late 1800s.) We selected our spot. My husband, who was then working out of town all week and only home on the weekends, didn't have much time to donate to clearing the area we chose and readying it for us. I am scared to death of power tools and equipment, being a "city girl" and all, so I set out to do the majority of the work by hand. It took us almost two years to get everything done, but it was definitely worth all the hard work! I absolutely love the spot we chose! I even talked my father in law into moving an old shed he built as a boy over onto our spot, and I use it for a garden shed. Our place hasn't reached it's full potential yet, but the journey we are making together is what I enjoy most!
