My world with Nature.

Photographs, and a few words about the birds that visit the garden and those that I manage to see.

A good one today.

I have not managed to take any photos of waxwings, only one that hit the window a couple of years ago. Today I was standing on the sundeck waiting for a nuthatch when this waxwing turned up and started eating the berries on the honeysuckle.Talk about lucky.

American Robin

Category: My Garden Birds | Posted: Mon Oct 06, 2014 6:08 pm

The robins are clearing out the mountain ash berries. I do have 4 bags full though in the freezer for feeding them when the real winter arrives. Its fun taking a photo each day and posting it straight away. Great not having to wait till you finished a roll of film.

A rare visitor today.

Category: My Garden Birds | Posted: Fri Oct 03, 2014 6:19 pm

It is not a rare bird to the area but it is a marsh type of bird. They nest in among the bull rushes etc. Only comes for 2 or 3 visits but usually in Dec/Jan time. I was going to post a hummingbird till this one came to the deck.

Have to post two today.

Category: My Garden Birds | Posted: Thu Oct 02, 2014 10:46 pm

This varied thrush arrived today. We don't usually see them on the deck till Dec, Jan. As I post the birds the day I take the picture, it had to be another one today.
