Zuppa Toscana
Category: Cooking | Posted: Mon Feb 12, 2007 7:58 pm OLIVE GARDEN ZUPPA TOSCANA 1 lb ground Italian sausage 1½ tsp crushed red peppers 1 large diced white onion 4 tbsp bacon pieces 2 tsp garlic puree 10 cups water 5 cubes of chicken bouillon 1 cup heavy cream 1 lb sliced russet potatoes, or about 3 large potatoes ¼ of a bunch of kale Sautee Italian sausage and crushed red pepper in pot. Drain excess fat, refrigerate while you prepare other ingredients. In the same pan, sautee bacon, onions and garlic for approxiamtly 15 mins. or until the onions are soft. Mix together the chicken bouillon and water, then add it to the onions, bacon and garlic. Cook until boilin Add potatoes and cook until soft, about half an hour. Add heavy cream and cook until thoughouly heated. Stir in the sausage. Add kale just before serving. Delicious! Unless you like your food really spicy omit the crushed red pepper, or cut down on it. I used a teaspoon and it was too hot for Sarah and I could really tell it was in there. Next time I will only use a little less than a half teaspoon, for the flavor not the heat. Bubba Update
Category: Pets | Posted: Mon Feb 12, 2007 7:52 pm Our Bubba woke up this morning feeling better. One eye was clear and he ate better this morning. He also drank some water. He wanted out, but I vetoed that. So he is in the shower sleeping. We are going to hold off on the vet and see how he is in the morning. I don't think it is life threating. Cats do get an upper respiratory thing that is fatal and that's what I was worried about. But he would not be improving if that is what it is. This blog entry has been viewed 551 times
My Sunday Off
Category: Family and Everyday Life | Posted: Mon Feb 12, 2007 5:21 am I have every Sunday off, but have been working them for the overtime. I was very tired today so I stayed home, and will do the same tomorrow, although my boss wants me to go in. Bubba, our big cat we raised on a bottle, is sick and has to go to the vet tomorrow. After church today Richard and I went to Sonic for lunch. We wanted to go to the flea market but had too much to do at home. We got back and watched the Victory Garden, then I marinated and injected the chicken for supper. We went outside and started working on weeding a flower bed. Got most of it done, but it was still wet. Tomorrow I am going to dig the cannas out bc they are taking over. I have to move some of the daylilies around and plant my gladioli. I will then fill in with some of the annual seed I am starting. I have so much to do in the yard, I think I have too much and may need to cut back or start mulching heavier. The weeds are so bad here. I have wild strawberry that came from somewhere over the winter and has taken over one end of a flower bed. It is really thick. Oh well, enough ramblings for today. Further Charges Filed
Category: Special Blogs | Posted: Sun Feb 11, 2007 5:00 am Mark Lewis has been charged with second degree murder. This has resulted from forensic evidence found in his truck. If I am right, he cannot be sentenced to more than 40 years for second degree murder. Please correct me if I am wrong, I think he deserves much more. This blog entry has been viewed 535 times
Kaitlin Update
Category: Special Blogs | Posted: Sat Feb 10, 2007 2:30 pm Kaitlin's funeral was yesterday. I did not attend. The community really came out and supported her mom. We were at the services the night before. The news reported over 1600 people attended. There was over 1000 at the services yesterday. Please continue to pray for her Mom, family and friends. Now the realization will set in. State law required that bond be set for Mark Lewis. The judge set it at $500,000. Lewis' lawyer said that Lewis does not think he will be in danger if he is let out of jail. A high school senior who attended the hearing summed it up, "Tensions are running high in French Settlement right now, if he gets out he ain't gonna make it." Some of the evidence has been sent to a private lab for testing. State police lab is so backed up even with a priority it will take them 3 weeks to get the evidence tested. The private lab should have something back the beginning of next week. I will keep y'all posted through blog entries. This blog entry has been viewed 571 times
I Am So Pis, Oops I Mean Mad
Category: Family and Everyday Life | Posted: Sat Feb 10, 2007 4:00 am Sorry, I really hate that word. A couple of days ago a lady I work with, who lives in French Settlement also, stopped at the local store. Inside was a box of little puppies with a free puppies sign, the cashier had found them in front of the store that morning when she opened up. Well tonight we went to pic DD #1 up at the school gym. She had to work concessions for the basketball game. By the gym door, a box of seven puppies with a free puppies sign on it. I am very upset about this. I called a friend just now that was at the game, they took one and there was 3 left when she went home. Richard is going to ride up there to make sure they all got taken. I sure would like to find the person doing this and kick their a.... up into their shoulder blades. This blog entry has been viewed 701 times

Kitten Update, Not Good
Category: Pets | Posted: Thu Feb 08, 2007 1:35 am Elfie, as Regina named her, has disappeared. This happened yesterday. My brother remembers seeing her playing at about 10 am and no one saw her afterwards. We would let her go out during the day, but kept her in at night. I really don't know what happened. We Are A Village
Category: Special Blogs | Posted: Mon Feb 05, 2007 3:18 am We are a village. Today we are a village in mourning, a village in grief, a village in despair, trying to understand how such a monster could creep in and commit such an unspeakable atrocity. Our village is a little less bright, a beautiful spark of life cut short by an inhuman being. It will be a long time before our village will sleep peacefully again, it will be a long time before Kaitlin's family will see the sun shine again. Rest in peace Kaitlin Marie Aydell , I know you are as beautiful an angel as you were a human. Last edited: Fri Feb 09, 2007 2:53 pm This blog entry has been viewed 556 times
New Addition
Category: Pets | Posted: Thu Feb 01, 2007 3:33 am I was just thinking that we had not aqquired any new cats, which I quess I shouldn't have done. No sooner was the thought out, than the girl next door brings us a kitten. She found it in the middle of the highway, no houses around, caked with mud. She said she knew we would take care of it so she picked it up. Thanks Brit. She is a tiny little solid black thing with a round face. Really cute, but aggravating as all get up. With the weather so bad I hate to leave her out, although she does go out during the day if it is not raining. She has decided I am her #1 human and sits on my shoulder while I am at the computer. I am hoping to find a good home for her, but cats are a disposable commodity around here so chances are slim. I really wish they would quit coming. This blog entry has been viewed 715 times
